I was ecstatic to find Tom Ford Beauty’s latest eye quad – Orchid Haze – when I was in Hong Kong earlier this week! It seems that Singapore has not brought it in yet… and God knows if we ever will (someday, I will write a complete rant post on the ineptitude of the Singapore outlet… but not today). I grabbed a few minutes while baby was napping today, to take Orchid Haze on a quick trial run!
Orchid Haze is the latest eye quad to join the permanent line-up at Tom Ford Beauty, and is a lovely warm mix of pinks & purples. There is no glitter in this quad, but 3 of the 4 shades are shimmery. The colors, in clockwise from top left, are:
The quality of this palette is the finest of Tom Ford Beauty. I found 3 of them to be extremely soft, creamy and well pigmented. The only one that is slightly under par is the medium satin mauve in the bottom left corner of the palette. It is somewhat sheerer than the rests, and not as soft & creamy. That being said, it is still amongst one of the best eye shadows I have ever dipped into.
Here are the swatches, taken both under indoor lighting and outdoors for comparison. The swatches from top to bottom correspond to the shade in the palette in clockwise direction from top left (similar to the descriptions given above).
For the eye look, I first applied the shimmery taupe as a base all over the lid. Then I added the mauve shade to the inside of my lids, and lined with the dark eggplant. I pulled the eggplant shade slightly higher at the outer corner, and used it to add some definition at the end. Finally I dusted the pale pink under the brow bone and blended towards the tear duct. The result is a light yet interesting eye look that can be worn in the daytime, or darkened accordingly for a smokey evening look.
Tom Ford Beauty Orchid Haze Eye Quad is one which is easy to fall in love with. The texture is superb, and the colors are quite charming. Having spent the last 3 days examining every single Tom Ford eye quad there is and experimenting with them, I am completely and utterly in love with Orchid Haze! This is one to beg, steal, or borrow!

This would be the next Tom Ford quad on my wish list so I’m trying my best not to visit the counter, ha ha. I love the swatches, thank you.
It’s going to be so ontrend for 2014 babe… Orchid is pantone color of 2014!!!
Omg Linda I love the colors! Hows the staying power though?
Does it require a primer or else it falls all over the place? 🙁
Hi dear! TF stays and stays… no fallout! Some of their older glitter shades do fall out… but Orchid Haze doesn’t contain any glitter… so u’re quite safe! 😉
