5 Beauty Hacks to Get You Through Party Season!

December 20, 2015

Multi-taskers!  This is a whole new skincare trend that has grown into a very useful part of my life ever since these beauties were introduced to me.  As the festivities pick up in pace, I find it ever more useful to be able to skip steps in my beauty routine, especially if I’m doing a quick costume change in between day and night events.  My skin is no longer so young that I can afford to completely cut out proper prepping and priming though, so it is critical that the products I choose fulfil their basic skincare function perfectly, and on top of it, prime my skin for makeup so I can get to the flawless stage faster!  There are 5 that I’m currently loving, let’s take a look at them today!

Multitasking skincare

I never skip moisturising no matter how little time I have because my makeup will start to crack and sink into lines mid-way through.  It is tempting to skip though, because some moisturisers take time to be completely absorbed, and rushing will just cause the makeup to look oily and patchy.

Guerlain Meteorites Oxygen Care

Guerlain Meteorites Oxygene Care* is the latest moisturizer from Guerlain, whose origins does not belong to one of Guerlain’s skincare lines, but stemmmed from their famed skin-enhancing meteorites perles.  The idea is to incorporate the illuminating property of the meteorites, by using a light-reflecting polymer that blurs surface imperfections for a visibly more radiant complexion.  Of course, being a skincare product after all, Meteorites Oxygene Care is formulated with O2 Light complex, which encourages the skin’s natural light receptors to renew its natural light from inside out, so that skin grows more radiant over time.

This is a light cream that melds into the skin upon contact, transforming into fluid and is absorbed almost instantly leaving no trace.  There is a silkiness to it that leaves my skin feeling smooth and ready for makeup, yet without the suffocating heaviness of silicons.  As a moisturizer, it keeps my dry skin hydrated throughout the day, and leaves my skin looking brightened.  As you can see, I’ve been enjoying it so much that I’m almost done with my bottle!

YSL Forever Light Creator Dark Circle Corrector

The other product that I never skip is an eye cream as the skin around my eyes are very dry and deep lines will start to surface and my eye makeup will start to crease as the day progresses.  Due to late nights, I’ve also started to develop serious dark circles, and it takes precious time to conceal them properly.  The YSL Forever Light Creator is a silky eye cream that keeps my eye area well moisturised throughout my long days.  It comes with a slight peachy-yellow tint that helps to camouflage some of my dark circles, making it appear less dire and I have to spend less time concealing afterwards.  I love that it comes in a handy pocket-sized squeeze tube and a slanted applicator tip, which makes it convenient for toting around town for flash changes!

Tatcha Silken Pore Perfecting Sunscreen

Sunscreens are always recommended when you’re heading out, even if it is almost dusk as there is always ambient UV.  And as it is the final skincare step before moving onto makeup, it has the highest potential to make that bridge between skincare and makeup.  Tatcha Silken Pore Perfecting Sunscreen* is a perfect example of that.  The silky smooth cream feels lightweight on my skin, and protects with broad spectrum SPF35 sun protection.  It has an elegant texture that is perfectly comfortable to wear, and does not cause my skin to feel greasy nor heavy afterwards.  Instead, it has the ability to smoothen out my skin, priming it for makeup application directly after!  So often that is just a nod towards nice-to-have, but I found that with this Tatcha Silken Pore Perfecting Sunscreen, I can actually skip a primer and it still holds my makeup in place nicely!

Clarins UV Plus Day Screen

Clarins UV Plus Day Screen Multi-Protection* not only affords the maximum broad spectrum protection with SPF 50 / PA++++, it also has anti-pollution protection as well.  What makes it bridge the gap between skincare and makeup is its color-tinted versions.  The one I have here has a slight pink tint that is designed to brighten the skin, eliminating dullness.  As I am prone to having redness in the face, I was afraid this would make me look even redder, but I was glad to see it doesn’t emphasize my redness at all.  Instead, it lends a nice brightening touch to my complexion.  On the other hand, there is a blue version could be useful for those with severe redness.  In any case, these tinted versions provide a color correction boost so my makeup looks better and it is easier to achieve the results I want.

Tatcha Dewy Skin Mist

And lastly, I don’t always seal my makeup with a facial mist, but my skin has been terribly dry lately and Tatcha Dewy Skin Mist has been an absolute saviour!  These days it seems as if every facial mist is claiming to provide hydration to the skin, but few of them really do.  And when used as a final step after painstakingly completing my makeup, I find the most critical aspect of a mist is that it does not dissolve or move my makeup.  And Tatcha’s mist is hands-down the finest mist you will ever experience!  I mean, it is so fine that it feels like a puff of air, fragrant baby’s breath, so gentle and luxurious.  It actually contains moisturisers and humectants to help seal in hydration, and leaves my skin looking luminous.

Wherever you find yourself this festive season, may these tips and tricks save you some time and help you achieve your flawless goals!
