Shiseido Makeup Rouge Rouge

October 21, 2017

Last fall, Shiseido released a whole wardrobe of red lipsticks… a whopping 16 of them to be exact.  This year, there are 8 new shades of Shiseido Rouge Rouge to bring greater variety to the range.  I have 5 of them to show you today!

The Shiseido Makeup Rouge Rouge range is formulated to have rich and true color that adhere to the contours of the lips.  These new shades certainly do not disappoint with their vivid hues.  There are 4 nudes and 4 vivid, in a range of reds, browns, oranges and pinks.  Here are the 5 that I have:

All of the new Shiseido Rouge Rouge feature an exclusive Smooth + Fit Complex that allows the color to retain its vividness and still adhere well to the lips without emphasising lines and other textural imperfections.  Though all 8 shades are matte, they have a slight cluster to give lips a healthy look.  Here is how these Shiseido Rouge Rouge look on my lips:

All the shades that I tested had amazing longevity, lasting through my morning coffee and toast, and even lunch!  Unlike other matte lipsticks, these Shiseido Rouge Rouge do not leave my lips feeling parched at the end of the day, and I have been wearing them consecutively for the past week!

I’ve found that most of the newer matte lipsticks have quite a bit of slip to them, which makes them easier to apply but compromises the last.  In contrast, these new Shiseido Rouge Rouge may seem a tad drier when swiping directly from the bullet.  In fact, I found the bullets rather stiff that I had to press harder than usual when trying to pick up with a lip brush.  On the other hand, these are some of the most long-lasting lipsticks I’ve tried of late.  If you prefer an easier swipe, I suggest applying a coat of lip balm at the start and let it absorb before you get to your lipstick, blotting off excess as needed.

The Shiseido Makeup Rouge Rouge come with an interesting bevelled tip that is tapered and allows for better access to the corners.  They come in a high polish black lacquered case that has a magnetic closure.  Interestingly, the magnets are of different polarity so there is only 1 specific way that allows the lipsticks to stay properly shut, which may be a bit inconvenient when you are in a rush.

These new Shiseido Makeup Rouge Rouge lipsticks are available at all Shiseido counters now!

Oh, the brown actually looks more wearable on your lips compared to the swatch! And I’m going to use up my TF Lust, by the way. I’m sad!!!!!! But I will move on to another lipstick. Need to show more love to my other lipsticks 🙂

Gorgeous shades! I honestly feel I need to jump into more Shiseido. I used the line so much in high school (as if I could even afford it – I have no idea how I did) but today I rarely reach for it and everything looks so beautifully designed.

Shiseido is surprisingly affordable for the quality!!! It does feel a little less trendy and exciting than the other big brands…. but it always looks good on regardless of the seasons.
