As I grow older, I find myself appreciating the subtler things in life… things that just work effortlessly take top priority. And much as I’d get excited over entire new palettes, the reality is I hardly ever pick up a palette these days. Instead, I prefer to reach for a single complex cream eyeshadow that allows me to deepen and blend out at will for that dimensional look without trying too hard. Or a lip color that makes me look well put together, yet feels super comfortable on the lips and doesn’t require a touch-up after every sip. And Shiseido is a brand that I’ve come to associate with all of that, and more. This Fall 2015, Shiseido brings us a colour palette filled with broody hues that had initially seemed unlikely, but surprised me in every possible way!
For Fall 2015, Shiseido will be releasing 5 new shades of the Shimmering Eye Color, 4 new shades of Veiled Rouge and 4 new shades of Perfect Rouge. There is also a brand new Full Lash Volume Mascara and a Full Lash Serum, both of which I will review in a later post. I received 2 of each color makeup item, and thought it would be fun to break the review into 2, featuring 1 full makeup look each (instead of just blabbing through a long-winded post). Today, I am working with the cooler-toned items: Shimmering Cream Eye Color in GR732, Veiled Rouge in RD315, and Perfect Rouge in RS656.
Shiseido Shimmering Cream Eye Color GR732 Binchotan is a green-slate cream eyeshadow with a slight shimmering finish. This is one of my favourite cream eyeshadow formula as it is so easy to work with, and does not crease nor fade on my lids. I don’t need a primer to keep this on, and there is no fallout from the shimmers.
I must admit when I first opened up this little pot of Binchotan, I thought to myself oh gosh what am I going to do with this mossy shade! But after I applied it on my lids, I discovered it is that magical shade of grey that actually livens up my eyes whereas so many other greys before it have failed. On the lids, it turns less green then it appears in the pot, and a cooler-toned grey. However, the green shows up as you sheer it out, providing that perfect complexity that makes blending this out so beautiful. All I added was some black liner on the outer part of my upper lash line and along my lower lash line, both blended out to give my eyes more definition.
Shiseido Veiled Rouge RD315 Enchantment is a light-medium neutral coral pink on my lips with a slight shimmery finish. As is typical with this formula, Enchantment has a creamy texture and a slightly sheer coverage. However, it is buildable to full opacity, though still retaining the shiny shimmery finish.
I’m very fond of Shiseido’s Veiled Rouge series as the size of the bullet is perfect for me, and they are very comfortable to wear. It lasts about 5-6 hours on me and wears off evenly with constant sips of water.
Shiseido Perfect Rouge RS656 Empress is stunning deep luscious wine red. This is my first time using this formula, and I found it to be much more pigmented than the Veiled Rouge, and not as slick in its glide nor as shiny in finish. There is also an interesting curve to the tip of the bullet which hugs the curvature of the lips as you apply. I was able to achieve full opacity in just a single swipe of Empress across my lips. It lasts for about 5 hours on me without fading, but generally with darker shades any wear from sipping and eating shows up more evidently and so I feel like I need a touch up after 5 hours even though the lipstick is not completely gone yet.
And to put all 3 on in a single look, I used both the lipsticks together to create an ombre lip!
You have already seen the eye look in detail at the beginning of this post. Nothing fancy at all, I simply applied the Shimmering Cream Eye Color GR732 along my lash line and blended upwards. Added just a touch of black liner to the outer tips extending outwards. For the lips, I applied Veiled Rouge RD315 all over, then dabbed Perfect Rouge RS656 on the center of my lips and blended. I’m actually really fond of this look, and can see myself wearing this again throughout the coming months!
Have you tried any Shiseido makeup yet? If not, now’s a good time to start!
