Welcome to the month of May! Time is passing fast, and it’s about time we get on with Summer 2017 collections isn’t it?! I sneaked a peek at RMK’s awesome collection with the complete relaunch of their nail polishes some time ago [read here], and I’m back today to show you the rest of it. Grab a drink and get comfortable, because there are lots of goodies awaiting you!
This season, RMK has released a 14-piece Color Mosaic Makeup Collection along with the complete revamp of its nail polish line [reviewed here]. Unlike the soft, barely there hues of pink and nude browns that we saw for Spring [here], this summer collection is stronger and bolder.
To begin, there are 5 new shades of Ingenious Powder Eyes N, numbered 20-24. These are powdered eyeshadow singles in the new clear plastic packaging, and can be depotted into z-palettes if so desired. After getting used to the Japanese-style of sheer and glittery eyeshadows from past few RMK collections, I was very surprised by the pigmentation of these new Ingenious Powder Eyes N!
There is such a smooth and dense texture to the matte shades (20-21) that they almost glide on like cream! The glitter shades are understandably a little grittier to the touch, but they apply beautifully and look at the intensity of shade 23! Shade 22 is a dupe for the cult Burberry Pale Barley, and it is just a beautiful all-over color for everyday wear. These shades last me all day without fading or creasing even when worn without a primer!
This is an easy eye makeup look featuring 4 out of the 5 Ingenious Powder Eyes N. I started with the light-medium taupe shade 22 all over my lid, and then added dark coppery-bronze shade 23 to the outer half for a smokey effect. Thereafter, I dabbed some shade 24 silver glitter to my inner corner, and highlighted under the brows with shade 20 pale pink (it was a toss up with shade 21). I finished with Matte Mascara N in shade 02, which I will show you next.
To enable all kinds of subtle cheeky fun for the office ladies, RMK has released 4 shades of Matte Mascara N. The brushes are specially designed for us with short stubborn lashes, with the bristles longer on one side of the brush and shorter on the other so you can get at the inner lashes without poking your eye.
All 4 shades are matte and intensely pigmented. Even on my dark black lashes, 02 shows up noticeably as brown, although it is not so electrifying as to draw unwanted attention. I love how 03 is such a dark navy that it is a nice alternative to boring black, and 04 goes nicely with my red-toned eyeshadows. Though not billed as waterproof, the RMK Matte Mascara N does not smudge on my oily lids (whilst most other mascaras do).
To complement the warmer summer complexion, RMK has released 3 new shades of Ingenious Powder Cheeks. All 3 are varying intensities of coral, ranging from a lighter peachy coral that may be used as a highlighter on slightly tanned skin to a deeper brightened vermillion. Here are the swatches:
These new Ingenious Powder Cheeks are all matte though with a soft satin sort of finish, devoid of any shimmers. If you see some stray ones in the swatch above, those are lingering from my eyeshadow swatches. I have actually quite enjoyed wearing these in combination – first I sweep shade 13 from the middle of my cheek bones (somewhere just under the outer corner of my eyes) along towards my hairline to sculpt, then I pop either 14 or 15 on the apples and blend in on the tops of my cheek bones for a fresh look. I will show you how it looks in just a minute, but first let me show you…
To round off the collection, RMK has 2 new Lip Jelly Gloss. These all come with in a clear tube that allows you to see the entire shade easily, and the applicator is a flattened silicon paddle that helps to evenly distribute the gloss over the lips. As its name suggests, the gloss has a high-shine jelly-like texture, and does not feel sticky nor heavy on the lips.
The 2 shades released this season are a pale pink and a light beige-coral. Both contains subtle micro-shimmers that give the gloss added dimension. They sheer out easily, and leave only a faint hint of color on the lips, so I generally prefer to wear them over a liner. This also helps extend the longevity of the gloss. Regardless, as with all other glosses, these do go with the barest touch to the lips.
Finally, here is a full makeup look featuring the eye makeup as already discussed earlier in this post. Cheeks feature Ingenious Powder Cheeks shades 13 and 14 in the way explained above. And on the lips is Lip Jelly Gloss shade 10 worn over a pale nude lip liner. In case you are wondering, I’m also wearing recently relaunched RMK Liquid Foundation over the Long Lasting UV Base.

It’s a pity RMK isn’t as widely distributed yet….. hopefully we’ll get there sometime soon!
Love the RMKs. 20 is the kind of color I wear almost daily over eye primer before the deeper colors go on. And then there’s “02 shows up noticeably as brown, although it is not so electrifying as to draw unwanted attention.” Ha-ha-ha! I don’t think I’ve ever commented on your writing which is descriptive with a light– and as we can see, humorous touch. As much as beautiful photographs, FOTDs, and swatches, the “voice” makes a blog. And as a writer by professional, I really appreciate yours, Linda. And Sara’s of course too.
Thank you so much, Alison! I’m glad to see there are still friends who take the time to read each word I write with care, and truly *get it*. 😉 They say a picture speaks a thousand words, but somethings just can’t be conveyed with unceasing scrolling! :*
