I hope it is still Spring where you are at, because I have a lot more to show you. It feels like the year is on accelerators, and I won’t be surprised I wake up tomorrow to find half the year has gone by. Let’s make the moment count, by taking a walk through the pretty RMK Spring 2018 Makeup Collection! Titled Chic Light, RMK has created a whole new collection of novel products to bring out that spring-time glow. Expect sheer colors that reflect dewy freshness, and lots of gorgeous pastel hues. I have swatches of the entire collection, enjoy!
I love the idea of a light wash of color on the lids, so much easier to wear and more in line with the lightness of spring. Pastels don’t always translate well in powder form, they often lose pigmentation or turn our chalky… hence RMK’s new W Water Eyes Color is such a genius idea because they are liquid and thus apply true to color and may be worn as is or sheered out at will.
The tubes are double barrelled, one end bearing a doe-footed applicator for a pearl-finish eyeshadow, the other end bearing a thin angled brush for a matte liner. The water-based formula feels light on the lids, and dry down to be completely budge proof. It takes about 2-3 minutes to dry completely, during which time you can blend with a finger or brush. The pearl eyeshadow sheers out easily, so if you want the color to show up more distinctly, you should go gently. The matching liner is a good idea, but do not try to blend into the eyeshadow as it will wash out the other.
There are 10 gorgeous shades, and here are the swatches, with the liner shade on the left followed by the eyeshadow shade.
I’ve been favouring cream blushes lately as they give that healthy lit-from-within flush that is so much more natural than powders. And this season, RMK has 7 shades of Multi Paint Colours to choose from.
The sleek silver cases slide open to reveal a square of cream product within. These Multi Paint Colours are designed to be used both on the cheeks and lips. There is just enough slip for them to sit comfortably on the lips, but still stay on the cheeks well without slipping off or fading away prematurely. They are pigmented enough that a few taps with a finger (or small brush) is all you need, and easy to blend out. The swatches below took 2-3 swipes each to get the color to show up as photographed.
Winter always takes a toll on my skin, and so it is important to add some glow back to the complexion come spring. RMK has 2 special sparkly Glow Gel that may be used on eyes, cheeks, and just about anywhere else you desire.
The Glow Gels are an innovative powder that feels bouncy to the touch. The pigments do not pick up too well with a brush, but this is intentionally done to allow for a sheer translucent finish. Whether you use a brush or finger, the Glow Gel adheres well where it is applied, and give a dimensional look to the skin. Shade 01 Pink is pretty layered with a blush and on the cupid’s bow, even tapped into the center of lips on top of a lipstick. Shade 02 Blue gives a cool gleam to the skin, and is lovely on the center of the eyelids and cheekbones for a touch of highlight. The tiny compact fits into any mini purses and is super convenient for touch-ups or makeup on the go!
And for the nails, RMK surprised me once again with 6 new shades that are intentionally sheer and so incredibly chic! The formula is one of my favourites, easy to apply, streak-free, self-levelling and quick to dry.
The shades bear poetic names such as Lazy Sunday, Calm Gray and Mystique Shower. I love that they are not the usual cheery pastels, but a little bit muted and grey. The added translucency allows the natural nail to show through, and you can go so sheer that the nails appear almost nude. Or layer up for a lustrous jelly effect.
All the swatches below bear at least 2-3 layers for the colors to show up as photographed.
RMK Chic Light Spring 2018 Collection is available at RMK counters in Isetan Scotts and Isetan Serangoon Central in Singapore.

These products are absolutely GORGEOUS. Like seriously fantastic. I love the glow gels, the cream / liquid shadow. Ohhh the nail polish. It’s just so pretty. I can’t buy RMK here but I can’t order it from Selfridges and pay about 30.00 (not too bad) to ship. I got some blush I just love! Any recommendations on what to try next? THere’s just SO much to love!
