It’s a busy week ahead!! Lots of brands are in town for the semi-annual Sephora Press Day, and it’s really exciting for me as I love meeting and chatting with brand founders. There will be loads happening in the days to come, but I need to catch up with my skincare posts. This was supposed to go out yesterday according to the Silverkis calendar, but life seemed to have gotten the better of time, and so here we are today with a handful of really nice new & reformulated products from Origins’ Plantscription line!
After all these years, Origins Plantscription remains special to me because it is the first line from the brand that I fell in love with years ago. I had reviewed several products from the line before [read here], and now Origins has released 2 brand new products and reformulated 2 from its core line for a holistic anti-aging care.
The neck has long been a neglected area for me, and I have recently just started panicking about how much things have degenerated there compared to my face. I am most concerned about lines, loss of elasticity (i.e. the dreaded sagging!), and uneven skin tone especially since I have not been diligent with sunscreen. Furthermore, my neck is most prone to eczema so I need a neck cream that works on all the signs of aging without irritating my hypersensitive skin. Origins PlantscriptionTM Powerful Lifting Neck and Decollete Treatment [SGD110 for 50ml] is a silky light cream that comes in a convenient and sanitary pump dispenser. Most neck creams feel too heavy for the hot, humid days I have here, but this Origins Plantscription neck cream goes on smoothly and feels nourishing to my neck without leaving it feeling too thick or oily even on a hot sweaty afternoon. Best of all, I really did notice the skin around my neck looking tauter and smoother with continued use!
At the heart of all Origins Plantscription products is the Anogeissus Leiocarpus Bark Extract which helps to boost skin’s natural production of fibrillin to ensure firmer and more elastic skin. For this neck and décolleté treatment, Origins has also added Goji Berry and Sweet Almond Seed Extract to provide a visible lift to the skin, and address elastic fatigue in skin to prevent irreparable sagging. Commiphora Mukul Resin Extract helps stimulate the production of hyaluronic acid to restore hydration to the skin, thereby plumping up and restoring volume and definition.
My next most often-neglected area are my hands! I seem to have taken a fancy to luxury hand creams from skincare experts, because quite frankly, mainstream hand creams just can’t seem to cut it for me these days. My hands are in a precarious state from constant washing and exposure to detergent; the last time I failed to take proper care, it quickly degenerated into an itchy painful mess that required a strong dose of cortisoid treatment from the doc to repair. So these days, I am super diligent, and ever since I received Origins PlantscriptionTM Anti-aging Hand Cream [SGD56 for 75ml], it has been my favourite! It has the perfect velvety richness to soothe my battered hands, yet is silky and light enough to be absorbed right away without leaving any oiliness or stickiness. This is all thanks to Meadowfoam Seed Oil which has a fatty acid structure that closely replicates the skin and supports the natural barrier. More importantly, this hand cream actually helps repair my skin and prevents eczema from flaring up!
Crithmum Maritimum Extract from the rocky shores of Brittany France is rich in minerals and vitamins A, C, and E; and has properties that imitate retinoids. It inhibits spot formation, increases cell renewal along with the synthesis of collagen, so that skin is smoother, more radiant and evenly toned. Bamboo Extract contains high amounts of natural silica which is one of the most important building blocks for skin to product collagen. It also supports the synthesis of glycosaminoglycans helps in moisture retention. Pea Extract protects and nourishes collagen and elastin, and improves cell communication to ensure healthy skin.
There were 2 eye creams under the Plantscription line in the past, and whilst they were both lovely, they either left my eye area feeling parched by mid-day or was too heavy for day use. And so, I was very happy to see that Origins has launched a reformulated PlantscriptionTM Anti-Aging Power Eye Cream [SGD70 for 15ml]. The improved formula comes in a light cream texture that pumps out from the bottle directly, and is quickly absorbed without leaving an oily film that causes my makeup to slide off. At the same time, it is rich and nourishing enough that I can feel comfortable with it all day and even at night.
The new formula includes a cocktail of Crithmum Maritimum, Pea Extract & Bamboo Extract to boost hyaluronic acid in the skin and visibly reduce the appearance of wrinkles. It also features Golden Chamomile, which has good anti-inflammatory and skin soothing properties, restoring suppleness to the skin and helping damaged skin heal. Algae Ascophyllum Nodosum is a rich source of anti-oxidants and minerals, and helps soothe and fights inflammation.
Similarly, Origins PlantscriptionTM Power Anti-Aging Cream [SGD110 for 50ml] has also been reformulated with the Crithmum, Bamboo and Pea Extract cocktail discussed above. Packaging remains the same, and the texture of the cream feels rather similar albeit perhaps slightly lighter than before. The new ingredients include Dill Seed Extract which generates key enzymes in skin that trigger elastin production and helps rebuild skin’s structural integrity for greater plumpness. Cassia Alata has antioxidative and anti-inflammatory properties, and has been shown to have a preventive and curative effect on signs of skin aging, and is able to revitalize and reactivate cellular repair. Unfortunately, I don’t have the full ingredient list to show you, and it is not available on Origins’ website either.
Overall, I’m really loving the new Origins Plantscription line extensions, both the Powerful Lifting Neck and Decollete Treatment and Anti-aging Hand Cream are daily staples for me. The newly reformulated Anti-Aging Power Eye Cream is definitely better than before, although I have not used it consistently enough to be able to see results. I’m least excited about the improved Anti-Aging Cream because I find it rather similar to its predecessor, which I neither loved nor hated terribly. All the products are out in counters now, so feel free to test them out for yourself!
This post featured products that were kindly provided for my consideration. Regardless, all opinions expressed here are my own honest, unbiased views.
I’ve been wanting to try this line from Origins for a while now. It does sound fantastic! Wonderful detail review! xo
