Lancome Teint Idole Ultra Cushion

December 27, 2016

How quickly the year has passed!  It has been an eventful one for me, and I’m really looking forward to what 2017 has in store for us all.  I’m all about starting the new year with a fresh outlook, and here is something from Lancôme that will at least help us look fresher!

Lancome Teint Idole Ultra Cushion

It feels to me that Lancôme turns out a new cushion every 6 months or so, because it was just in March that the brand improved on its previous Blanc Expert Cushion.  However, this is not merely another reformulation, but a whole new Lancôme Teint Idole Ultra Cushion, as you can probably tell with the luxurious black & gold packaging.  There is some similarity with the former though, most noticeably the reflective cover and the exclusive multi-fiber cushion that is only used by selected high-end brands within the L’Oreal family (such as this Lancôme cushion, and this Shu Uemura).

The special multi-fiber cushion prevents evaporation of the contents, and allows an even dosage of product to be dispensed each time with just a gentle tap (no need to push all the way in).  A brand new puff applicator has been included with the Lancôme Teint Idole Ultra Cushion, which is flocked instead of the traditional rubberized one, and feels plusher and gentler/bouncier against my skin.  It also allows for the product to be applied via a sweeping motion, rather than the previous tapping motion.

The new Lancôme Teint Idole Ultra Cushion offers the highest coverage in a cushion form that I’ve encountered thus far across all brands, and does it in such a lightweight, elegant way that has me enthralled.  It gives my skin a porcelain-like finish, smoothening pores and eliminating uneven skin tone with just one single layer.  I could also tap on more under my eyes and around my nose to cover up dark eye circles and redness around my nose easily, and I do not feel the need for additional concealer thereafter.  I recently suffered a bad cut near my lip that got infected and got crusty, and was super surprised when the Lancôme Teint Idole Ultra Cushion was able to float over the peeling skin, cover up the redness without emphasizing the crustiness!!

As you can see from the half-faced comparison shot above, Lancôme Teint Idole Ultra Cushion gives a bright, luminous glow to my skin that I find really beautiful.  It is part of the Lancôme Teint Idole Ultra family, which is formulated to be long-lasting.  Whilst I was not particularly in love with the liquid version of the foundation [see here], this cushion version actually fared much much better, and for a moment I was churlish to even make the association.  But the liquid foundation is very well-loved by others, and I think this cushion deserves to be similarly appreciated.  It lasts all day on me – I wore it on a trip to the River Safari on Christmas Eve, and it lasted through the scorching heat and did not melt nor fade off one bit.  Of course, I did notice some shine creeping in at the end of the day, but the Lancôme Teint Idole Ultra Cushion was able to diffuse it in a way that looked healthy rather than slick.

Lancôme also claims the Teint Idole Ultra Cushion provides a “refreshing cooling effect upon application” which I personally did not experience, and never saw the point of such gimmicks anyway.

It has taken me awhile to review this cushion because I was not able to test out my perfect matching shade.  I received shades 010 and 015, which were much too fair and too dark respectively.  It never occurred to me until recently that I should just mix the 2 shades.  The combination of 010 and 015 resulted in the shade seen in the comparison shot above!

Lancôme Teint Idole Ultra Cushion is out in stores, you should definitely check it out if you are a fan of Lancôme foundations or if you love cushion foundations in general!

I really like cushion foundations! The Lancome one looks amazing on your! I have been addicted to their Teint Ultra 24H Foundation. It really works for me. I haven’t tried the cushion but I’ve heard good things about it. I’ve been using the Sulwhasoo cushion which is like out of this world crazy amazing good! I used it today actually! =)
    Have you tried that one?

The Teint Ultra 24H Foundation is a cult favorite!! It didn’t sit too well on my skin though, but I had oily skin when I was trying it out back then. The cushion feels quite different to me, but i love it. Which Sulwhasoo cushion are you using?!
