Lancome Advanced Genifique Brought Back the Youthful Aura to My Face!

August 17, 2015

Some skincare products are like really good old friends… you grow so comfortable with each other that your friendship will traverse time and distance… until you meet again years later and realize what has been missing in your life all these time. That, in a nutshell, is the story of Lancome’s Advanced Genifique and how I have recently come to re-embrace it in my skincare routine.

Lancome Advanced Genifique

I first tried Lancome Genifique when it was first launched in 2009 and found it to be a lovely serum with wonderful texture. Back then, Genifique was one of the first serums in the market that was inspired by discoveries in the fields of genomics and proteonomics, and worked to bring back visual signs of youth. The product proved so popular with women all over the world that in 2013 Lancome improved the formula further and launched Advanced Genifique to target 10 key signs of youth: texture, resiliency, elasticity, firmness, sagginess, fine lines, wrinkles, radiance, even skin tone, and clarity. I didn’t get around to trying this second-generation formula until recently, and have been loving it ever since!

Lancome’s Little Black Bottle has become synonymous with beauty throughout Asia. It is a simple elegant bottle that is still as attractive to me today as it was 6 years ago. What I loved the most about the packaging is the innovative self-loading dropper. Simply twist the dropper cap back into the bottle after every use, and a final click lets me know the cap is properly back in place. When that happens, there is a mechanism within the bottle that automatically depresses the push button at the top of the cap and refills the dropper. The next time I open up the bottle, the dropper is already pre-filled with Advanced Genifique. And with a light push, the dropper dispenses exactly the same amount of product every single time.

Advanced Genifique is a clear fluid with an incredibly lightweight texture. The dropper dispenses enough product to cover my entire face and neck with a single pump. It spreads easily over the skin, and is absorbed rapidly, leaving no stickiness or visible traces. My skin feels perfectly comfortable and perfectly balanced, ready for the rest of my skincare routine. I apply it immediately after cleansing and toning, before any other serums and moisturizers, and have been able to layer on the rest of my products without having to spend much time waiting for it to be fully absorbed.

Lancome Advanced Genifique ingredient list

Lancome Advanced Genifique is formulated with Bifida Ferment Lysate, which is a form of probiotics that are naturally found in the human body. This has been known to help prevent and manage various skin conditions such as eczema, and soothes reactive skin preventing adverse reactions to environmental changes. Lancome also claims that its particular Lysate acts as a DNA repairing agent and over time, would reverse the signs of aging on the skin.

A high level of Glycerin coupled with Sodium Hyaluronate ensures the skin is well hydrated and retains moisture throughout the day. It also maintains the barrier function of the skin, ensuring the skin remains healthy and strong. Hydroxyethylpiperazine Ethane Sulfonic Acid helps to improve skin tone and texture; whilst Salicylolyl Phytosphingosine reduces the depths of wrinkles and fades sunspots. The inclusion of Adenosine further reinforces the anti-aging effect, lifting, firming, improving tone, and boosting skin repair. Faex Extract stimulates cell metabolism, thereby improving their vitality.

I have been using Lancome Advanced Genifique mornings and nights for the past week, and I definitely noticed my skin becoming plumper and even better hydrated than before. And as is often the case, I find the best validation come from my fellow beauty lovers who have known me for a long time and are familiar with my skin’s condition. Having been battling a bad case of sinus infection for the past 3 weeks, and being heavily medicated with insufficient rest, I had expected my skin to be in worse condition than it is. Instead, more than one of these friends have commented that my skin looked smoother and more luminous than before!

To complement Advanced Genifique, I have also been replacing my usual eyecare products with the Lancome Advanced Genifique Light Pearl Eye Serum and Advanced Genifique Eye Cream.

Lancome Advanced Genifique Eye Light Pearl

Lancome Advanced Genifique Light Pearl was first introduced in 2012 as a natural extension to the Genifique family targeting the eyes, and has been recently reformulated with an improved pearl massager. This was the very first eye serum that I had used when it was first launched, and had me convinced of the need for a separate eye serum to be used with an eye cream. As I age, I find the skin around my eyes growing drier and looking more crepe-y and droopy. Whilst I started reaching for richer eye creams, these often do not perform well with eye makeup in the daytime. On the other hand, eye gels are usually not able to keep my eye area hydrated throughout the day in an air-conditioned office.

Lancome’s Advanced Genifique Light Pearl is a lovely lightweight serum that is quickly absorbed, leaving no stickiness or oiliness on my eye area. It allows me to quickly layer on a separate eye gel without taking up precious minutes during the morning rush. The pearl-shaped massager is an additional enjoyable perk to the product as it feels cool against my skin and helps to relieve puffiness. I was very happy to find that the newly improved massager has more spring to it and is restricted to an 80-degree rotation angle. This allows for greater precision and works more fluidly in my hands than the previous design (which was floppier and just generally messier in my opinion).

Having used this for the past week, I have started to notice another improvement in this latest reformulation over the previous version. Whilst both are equally good in keeping my eye area well hydrated throughout the day, this has the ability to provide some lift to my lids, making my eyes appear more awake than I really feel. More importantly, my lids are not as droopy, which is always a good way to remain youthful looking!

Lancome Advanced Genifique Eye

Lancome Advanced Genifique Eye is a delectable souffle-light gel that spreads easily and is absorbed right away, even when used on top of the Advanced Genifique Light Pearl. The layered duo is the only eye treatment combination that I’ve ever tried that works perfectly for me both day and night. It is light enough for day and does not leave my lids oily at all, so my eye makeup goes on smoothly and remains intact throughout the day. For night, it is sufficiently hydrating and nourishing such that I wake up looking fresh even if I had slept late or poorly.

I have been enjoying the Lancome Advanced Genifique Youth-Activating Concentrate, Light Pearl and Eye Cream for the past week and already am amazed by the results. Experience it for yourself, head on over to the Lancome website and get your own 7-day trial kit!
