La Prairie Cellular Eye Essence Platinum Rare

Luxury eye care products are always at the top of my list of things to check out, and when the La Prairie Cellular Eye Essence Platinum Rare arrived one day, I immediately put it to the test.  The crème de la crème of eye care products, La Prairie has designed it to fight all the signs of aging, diminish the appearance of wrinkles, visibly lift and firm, and brighten dark circles.

La Prairie’s Platinum Rare Collection is inspired by one of the rarest precious metals in the world, and is formulated with very exclusive platinum peptide.  This is a proprietary compound created by binding platinum particles with Acetyl Tetrapeptide-17, which helps improve firmness, reduce wrinkles and improve skin elasticity and hydration.  The resultant platinum peptide is protected from peptide-destroying enzymes that exist naturally in the epidermis, thereby allowing it to work more effectively and longer.  The full list of ingredients may be found here.

The packaging, as with all other La Prairie products, is luxury at its finest.  The design of the bottle has me mesmerized for days with its double-walled platinum core with transparent acrylic outer.  The top cap is removable via a screw mechanism, and the product is dispensed by a dropper.  I was intrigued by the rotating ball at the end of the dropper, which may be used to gently massage the eye area.  It feels cool on the skin, and helps alleviate puffiness in the mornings.

A tiny pearl-sized drop is sufficient to cover both my eye areas.  I found the pale iridescent shimmer of the platinum particles incredibly beautiful, and they serve to brighten up the eye area as well.  The texture is fluid and lightweight, it is easily absorbed and does not leave behind any residue.  I had no problems applying makeup afterwards, and it is sufficient in keeping my eye area hydrated without requiring an additional layer of eye cream.

I started using this La Prairie Cellular Eye Essence Platinum Rare the moment I received it back in February, and quickly fell in love with its elegant texture and ability to keep my eye area hydrated.  I also noticed it firmed up my eye area so I no longer wake up with deep eye bags.  However, I had to stop using it for a long while (hence the delay in getting this review out to you) because I started developing milia seeds on my eye lids.  La Prairie does not recommend applying the product on the lids, but rather under the eyes and around the outer contours, so it is entirely my own fault.  Nowadays, I only apply this at night, and I do see a general firming and brightening of my eye area.  My lids are a little droopy in general, and I can’t quite see this serum lifting the lids sufficiently, but the cool metal ball massager does help reduce puffiness.  Priced at SGD620 for 15ml, I find it rather obnoxious to advocate too strongly.  La Prairie has an equally lovely eye serum at a much lower price point [see here] for those looking for an entry to the brand; but if you have the ability and would like to take some preventive measures against future signs of aging, this Cellular eye Essence Platinum Rare is definitely one to check out!
