Hello my dears! I’m taking a much needed holiday with el hubs for the next couple of weeks, and I’ve asked a few friends to fill in for me while I’m away. I thought this would be a good time to introduce some local bloggers to you, and indeed you may find some (if not all) of them familiar! In any case, to kick things off, I’d like to introduce my good friend Meryl who blogs over at Memoiselle.com. She is one of the nicest and most generous person I know, and was a great help to me when I was still finding my footing as a blogger. Enjoy!
Hi Hi!
Firstly, I want to say thank you to a friend whom I met through Instagram and since then we have been in touch in real life regularly. It’s a pleasant surprise when Linda texted me to ask whether I would be okay to post a guest post while she’s away enjoying her holiday. I agreed and here I am sharing a note on the things I have been loving lately.
My life has been very busy lately but I’ve been trying and experimenting with a few things. Here are some skincare which I’ve been loving:
La roche posay Toleriane Fluide Emulsion
This is one of my recent discoveries, this emulsion keeps my skin well hydrated and it has a very light texture. During weekend breakfast when I don’t feel like applying too much on my skin, I’ll just apply this and slap on some SPF on my face. I can feel that my skin is properly hydrated and it does not leave any oily feeling at all. The best thing about this product is that it contains no fragrances and is suitable for sensitive skin.
Shu Uemura Ultime8 Sublime Beauty Oil in Essence
I’ve always been a fan of oil-based skincare for their ability to keep my skin hydrated and delay aging. The texture of Shu Uemura’s Ultime8 Sublime Beauty Oil is light, and it is absorbed into the skin quickly. I have enjoyed adding this onto my morning and night time skincare ritual – when my skin gets hydrated and I need that extra boost, I’ll make sure Shu Uemura Ultime8 Sublime Beauty Oil in Essence is within my reach.
The smell might be a lil tricky – at first it smells kinda unusual to me but as I keep applying the oil, I start to appreciate the smell and have grown to love it.
One of the ingredients, geranium oil, helps to improve collagen expression in our skin, making my skin plumper and softer. I agree that after using this for sometime, my skin feels softer and plumper!
Kiehl’s Ultra Light Defense Sunscreen
In Singapore’s hot and humid weather, one skincare that I will not miss is definitely sunscreen. Kiehl’s sunscreen has recently been reformulated with new ingredients such as Rosa Gallica to protect your skin against irritation. The new formulation puts the PA to ++++ rather than +++ which Kiehl’s claims to give an anti aging benefit.
This is the sunscreen that I’ve been using lately and so far I like how it feels on my skin. Upon application, I don’t feel any greasiness on my skin and most importantly I don’t notice any white cast whenever I’m taking a selfie or group picture.
La Nuit de Chanel
I may be quite late to get onto the bandwagon but I’ve been loving this a lot lately. I tried the samples of Le Jour, La Nuit and Le Weekend but La Nuit is the one that won my heart. I feel that with La Nuit – my skincare is absorbed better into the skin, making my skin look fresher in the morning.
Clarisonic Pedi Foot Transformation Self
The device that helps me clean my feet! I tend to neglect my feet, focusing too much on the top part of my body (e.g. hair/face). Thanks to Clarisonic, I have started to take care of my feet nowadays. The kit consists of one device with two brush heads – smoothing disc and buffing brush head. I love the smoothing disc to soften my rough skin! I can see my dead skin being cleaned and how my feet feels much softer after that. The regime for using the smoothing disc is recommended for a twice weekly regimen.
Moving onto make up items, I’ve also tried quite a few things lately and found these items to be working well for me. Here they are:
Sulwhasoo Perfecting Cushion
Although this is not a new product, I recently rediscovered this and started liking it again. 🙂 It is super easy to use and what I love most about this is the coverage. I own quite a few BB cushions and most of them have lighter coverage. Depending on my needs, Sulwhasoo Perfecting Cushion would be the one I’m using when I need extra coverage.
Tom Ford Skin Illuminating Duo in Moodlight
This is one of the products that I’ve seen lots of time on Instagram and most people seem to be raving about it! I know I didn’t need to get another highlighter but when I swatched this at the TF counter, there was no turning back. The highlighter is simply stunning! It’s the highlighter that never goes wrong and it won’t make my face look like a disco ball. It gives a very subtle shine onto my face. The contour shade may not be my favorite contour shade, but when the contour shade is paired with few blushes of mine, it gives a lovely glow onto my cheek.
Shu Uemura x Maison Kitsune for the holiday 2015 collection
Beauty Remix Smoky Eye & Cheek Palette in Plum
An eyeshadow palette with a blush shade. Firstly, I love how Maison Kitsune designed the palette cover, it looks simple yet very cute! I’m loving the palette especially that taupe shade! It’s so easy to use and by only using that color, my look on weekdays is settled. The palette comes with an orange blush which might look scary in the pan, but when applied onto my face, it looks wearable.
Onto the lippie, how I love this! Lacque Sparkler in Plum Shimmer stays on my lips for a good 6 hours even after lotsa glass of water. I don’t find my lips to be drying after wearing this, and the deep pink shade lifts up my mood instantly! These days I always keep this on my bag for an evening event.
Chanel Alezane
Lately I’ve been drawn to darker blushes so that I can use it as a contour cum blush. Alezane is a reddish brown shade with shimmer. This shade works very well as a contour cum blush as it’s dark enough to be used as a contour yet it doesn’t make my face look dull when used as a blush.
I love how soft Chanel Joues Contraste blushes are. The blush is well pigmented, so I would suggest to use squirrel hair brushes (Koyudo BP018/Suqqu cheek brush) to make sure that the brush doesn’t take too much color.
Dior Addict Lipstick in 976 Be Dior
Another lip product that’s worth a rave! Be Dior is one of 4 iconic shades in the relaunch. Be Dior has an excellent color intensity, the color shows up perfectly on my lip and it feels moisturizing. I love the newly designed packaging with magnetic cap! The new packaging helps me a lot when I’m being clumsy and forget to close my lipstick properly.
The reformulation of Dior Addict has made me fall in love again and again with the lipstick – the hydragel coating makes the finish look slightly shiny and plump! This shade 976 Be Dior is the shade that Jennifer Lawrence wears in the Shine Dont Be Shy ad, the lip shade looks gorgeous and I think this shade is a great addition to my lipstick collection where mostly I own pinky/nude lipstick.
I hope Linda is enjoying her holiday and please take more photos there Linda!!
xoxo
