Casual Chic for Gentlemen Only by Givenchy

We all want our men to exude a certain je ne said quoi, all easy charm and modern gentility.  Of course, every man has his own distinctive style, and it is our “job” as wives and lovers to shape our jars of clay… 😉  I say that tongue-in-cheek of course, but over the years my hubby has grown to rely on me so much, he would invariably find excuses to make a detour with me in tow to the tailor, and ask me for my opinion on his outfit (more so than I ask him!) for an important occasion.  So yes, I take my “job” very seriously.  Not only dressing my man up in the outfits that work for him, but also in the fragrance department as well.  And for this Father’s Day, I’ve prepared something special for him… Givenchy Gentlemen Only Casual Chic!

Givenchy Gentlemen Only Casual Chic [SGD98 for 50ml, SGD134 for 100ml] is the latest flanker to the original Gentlemen Only fragrance which was launched in 2013.  Casual Chic is an easy to wear fragrance particularly in the summer months (or in my case, tropical humidity).  It starts out with a crisp burst of tart ginger and juniper, blended with warm cardamom.  The original accords of Gentlemen Only remains in Casual Chic, with notes of sandalwood, cedar wood and birch leaf.  Elements of spice and wood combine marvelously in a handsome, masculine scent that feels clean and crisp.

Casual Chic retains the sky-blue glass and matte steel cap of the original Gentlemen Only, but it is made more chic with touches of vivid orange.  I find this touch extremely cool, although it is not novel having been used for Hugo Boss Orange and Tommy Hilfiger accessories.  Nonetheless, it works, giving the flacon a younger, more casual vibe befitting the fragrance contained inside.

I must admit that I am very drawn to Givenchy Gentlemen Only Casual Chic in part due to Simon Baker… those smizing eyes of his had me hopelessly hooked on The Guardian in a previous lifetime.  Don’t believe me, check out the commercial below!
