Estee Lauder Pure Color Envy Sculpting Gloss & Lacquer

First there was the Pure Color Envy Sculpting Lipsticks in long-wearing satin finishes, shine, and matte; and the amazing Liquid Lip Potions.  Now Estee Lauder completes the lip collection with the new Pure Color Envy Sculpting Gloss and Lacquer!

The new Estee Lauder Pure Color Envy Sculpting Gloss and Lacquer collection is designed to be worn either on their own or over a lipstick.  There is a wide range of finishes – cream to shimmer, and sheer to opaque – to suit every need.  The Pure Color Envy Sculpting Gloss is a new high-shine gloss with a lip-loving balm-like formula.  It feels moisturising on my lips, and moulds to the contours of my lips to give a dimensional gel-like glaze.   There are 18 amazing shades to choose from, ranging from nudes to berries and plums.

Given how opaque some of the glosses are, I almost had a hard time trying to differentiate them from the Pure Color Envy Sculpting Lacquers.  In general, the lacquers have better opacity, and can be thought of as liquid lipsticks with a high-shine finish.  These are not drying on the lips that way most lacquers are, but are as moisturising as the glosses.  They are very long-lasting, do not fade nor wear off on their own.  However, just as with the glosses, these do not last through a meal, and do budge with drinks.  There are 7 shades of lacquers to choose from, all in very wearable hues of pinks, mauves and corals.

• 230 Jealous Blush Pure Color Envy Sculpting Shimmer Gloss is a light-medium blush pink with a neutral tone
• 270 Thrilling Flame Pure Color Envy Sculpting Lacquer is a smooth cream lacquer in a medium-dark reddened pink with purple micro-shimmers
• 330 Red Extrovert Pure Color Envy Sculpting Shimmer Gloss is a medium-dark red with some golden shimmers
• 340 Flirtatious Magenta Pure Color Envy Sculpting Shimmer Gloss is a medium mauve with pale pink and golden shimmers

Each of the Gloss and Lacquer contain some level of shimmer, but they feel perfectly comfortable on my lips without any grittiness.  The Lacquer has better opacity than the Glosses, but does sheer out on its own, though buildable.  Even the sheerest gloss can be built up to sufficient colour, so they can be worn on their own as needed.

230 Jealous Blush is easily one of my faves this season as it matches just about any makeup look!

270 Thrilling Flame is quite cool-toned and pigmented once built up, and a real stunner!

330 Red Extrovert is a more casual way to wear red if you aren’t fond of full-on bold red lips.

340 Flirtatious Magenta turns redder once layered, and makes me look fairer!
