Cle de Peau Beaute AW2014 Celestial Radiance

Are you ready for Autumn-Winter? Collections are starting to roll… but I’m not quite ready to go full smoky yet. But the brights are starting to tire me, and so it was really refreshing when the wonderfully generous folks at Cle de Peau Beaute Singapore sent me a selection of their upcoming AW2014 collection – Celestial Radiance.

Infinite beauty in a single gaze,

A universe of possibilities.

For AW2014, Cle de Peau Beaute has placed emphasis on the eyes, keeping the entire look soft but still alluringly smoky. Rich jewel tones abound, but Cle de Peau has made them wearable by softening the shades, some are slightly sheer for layering, and a dash of fine shimmers make for luminous eyes. There are 8 eyeshadow quads this season, and the one I have is #305 Satin Moon.

Cle de Peau Beaute Eye Color Quad 305 Satin Moon comprises of mostly browns, shot through with some hints of purple. It came at a time in my life when I was pondering the current state of my makeup collection, which is sorely lacking a good neutral-brown palette. And when I unveiled it from its box, it was as if the stars aligned for a moment of kismet. There is an elegance to this palette that makes it so wearable even for a brown-averse person like me, and that mauve shade is simple love at first sight.

Most of the shades have shimmers to them, giving them extra dimension and complexity.  Here is a macro shot with some blurring to show up the shimmers.

From top to bottom, (corresponding to the shades in the palette from right to left) are:

• Dark, matte charcoal eggplant with some sparse multi-colored shimmers
• Medium mauve with a stronger sheen (though neither frosty nor metallic) and very fine shimmers
• Medium bronze with a satin finish and some sparse golden shimmers
• Light copper gold with a satin finish

This is the perfect palette for a day-appropriate smoky eye look, and is neither too warm and brown that it ages my eyes, nor is it too metallic and grey that it becomes too much for the day. All the shades are incredibly soft and smooth, they blend together beautifully without much effort at all. I’ve worn them without primer, and they lasted all day without creasing, fading, nor any fallouts at all.

To accompany the eye look, Cle de Peau has released the Perfect Lash Mascara. The wand is curved and the bristles are quite dense and fluffy to coat every single lash. The formula is lengthening and volumnizing without clumping. In fact, this is probably the only mascara I can safely say volumnizes without clumps! It also helps to hold a curl, and is not so heavy that my lashes immediately droop after application. I loved the fact that it is waterproof and completely budge-proof, there was absolutely no smudging at all throughout the day!

For this AW2014 collection, Cle de Peau has 3 limited edition Extra Rich Lipsticks in varying shades of nudes. The one I have is shade 210, which is a beige nude.

To be honest, I’m not a very big fan of nude lipsticks in general as they tend to wash me out. However, if this is the sort of thing you wear on a daily basis, then be sure to check these out as this is the creamiest and most comfortable lipstick I have ever worn!

Cle de Peau Beaute produces some of the highest quality products I have ever encountered, but they are often priced on the luxury end of the market. The good thing is they have a modular system, where the eyeshadow and lipstick is sold as a case (SGD30 and SGD35 respectively) and refill (SGD80 and SGD70 respectively) separately, making it more accessible and environmentally friendly. We don’t need to clutter up our already over-crowded vanity and landfills with endless bulky cases. The eyeshadow palettes come in good sturdy plastic casings that are reusable and suffice to protect the product. Of course, if you’re entirely OCD (like me) then the dual pricing may seem like a mental block. Alternatively, the eyeshadow palettes do fit in a Z-palette, which could be a cheaper option.
