Hello my dear friends! It has been so long since I found time and frame of mind to sit down and compose a nice blog post. I pray that wherever in the world you are, you and your loved ones are safe, and managing to find your balance through these turbulent times.
With working from home being the default these days, and 2 kids who need me to oversee their physiological and emotional development, life can be too much and too little at the same time. I don’t have the luxury nor patience to cloister myself in a room during structured work hours, but keep my handphone with me while I alternately entertain my 15 month old toddler and nag my almost-9 year old to complete his school assignments. No complains whatsoever, except it can get terribly embarrassing when a video call comes in and I accept it thinking I look presentable, only to see myself on screen looking absolutely frumpy. #firstworldproblems.
A few things really help – tinted sunscreen (or a good BB/CC cream with high SPF), lash extensions (gamechanger in my life), and a lifeproof lipstick. Yup, not so long ago I raved about the ultimate budge-proof lipcolor to wear under your mask [read here], but right after my post went up, Chanel launched a brand new Rouge Allure Laque which is in my opinion, even better! Lifeproof because I can swipe it on in the morning and just get on with life, smothering my boys with kisses and overindulging in coffee included.
So what makes the Chanel Rouge Allure Laque so great? First of all, it is the most comfortable and respectful of my lips of all liquid lipsticks I’ve ever tried. It has an almost creamy and jelly-like texture, and feels so comfortable on my lips all day everyday. An antioxidant complex of Sappan wood and Vitamin E helps lips stay soft and supple even with continuous wear. The finish is glossy yet it is water-resistant so it can withstand eating and drinking. The formula comprises of two agents, the first traps pigments for unchanging color radiance and a second locks in a blend of oils for continuous shine. I find that it takes about a minute to set, so that it does not rub off onto my mask. Also, the sleek compact packaging makes it so tempting to collect them all.
There are 20 amazing shades, many of them I would gladly wear to the market and jostle with the local aunties over fresh grubs without feeling like a drag queen. Here are full arm swatches of all the shades available in Singapore, in chronological order.
The really great thing about wearing a liquid lipstick is that you can sheer it out as you like, making even the darkest most forboding shade very wearable on a daily basis. These are now available at Chanel stores in Singapore, and even on Chanel.com. By the way, Chanel has launched a cool new mobile app called the LIPSCANNER [download link here] which allows you to scan any picture to find the closest lip color shade from Chanel’s extensive repertoire of lipsticks, and try it on virtually to see how it looks on you! Once you find your ideal shade, just hit the link and shop online directly!
