Is it summer already? I’m actually planning a vacation to Gold Coast Australia with the fam this June, a spot of hiking mixed with some beach time (even though it’s technically Winter down under). So I definitely won’t be needing too much makeup, which is why the latest Chanel latest Les Beiges collection for Summer 2019 resonates so well with me. The new collection heralds in a “new era of essentials”, and is designed for women in search of authenticity and freedom. Les Beiges is all about natural healthy glowy skin, and for the first time, we get to experience microfluidic technology in a brand new makeup product.
Pushing the boundaries on nude-skin makeup, the Chanel Les Beiges Water-Fresh Tint uses a patented process to suspend pure pigments in a jellified acqueous solution. On contact with skin, the Water-Fresh Tint bursts forth to release a high does of hydration with a crisp sensation. When mixed, the micro-droplets melt to release the right amount of pigment to even out skin tone imperceptibly.
Each bottle of Chanel Les Beiges Water-Fresh Tint comes accompanied by a small dense brush. One pump of the bottle provides sufficient product for the entire face, and you are supposed to dispense it on the back of your hand, then swirl the brush to mix and blend into the face. There are 6 shades available, and here are the 3 lightest shades:
I am usually a shade 20 or 30 in Chanel, and I decided to go for Medium Light. This Water-Fresh Tint is incredibly sheer, and run slightly darker than usual, giving skin that sunkissed glow. It is so imperceptible that it is impossible to photograph a before/after accurately. However, if you zoom into for a closeup, you may be able to see the texture of my skin seems more even, lines are less obvious, and the redness around my nose lightened. This is a product that I can see myself wearing for outdoor play, and also as a primer or makeup topper for a flush of tan.

The cult-favorite Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Sheer Powder returns this summer in a new limited edition case featuring Gabrielle Chanel’s personal signature. Open it up, and the powder within also bears the same signature. Lovers of this powder will know that it is incredibly finely milled and so densely packed, it is impossible to overdo. Skin feels airy and natural, excess oil is blotted out without leaving skin looking flat, natural glow is allowed to shine through.
Never mistake nude-skin for pale and lifeless, Chanel Les Beiges Natural Eyeshadow Palette is the perfect all-in-one travel companion, and officially my favorite daily palette. It has the perfect range of shades from subtle to smoky, so that you never look underdressed for any occasion. The tones are perfectly neutral, never veering too warm nor too cool, so that it should suit virtually everybody.
I must say in all honesty that this Natural Eyeshadow Palette houses the highest quality of eyeshadows I have ever experienced from Chanel. Each of the 9 shades are silky smooth and blend like a dream, and even when used as a liner on my lower lash line, it lasts all day without smudging which is a miracle. Worn all day, through rain and sun, I have never experienced any creasing nor fading from this palette.
All of the shades blend seamlessly with each other, and are good enough to wear on their own. I am so pleased that it really does not need any effort at all to create the perfect eye look.
Finally, putting it all together, Chanel has added a new shade of Healthy Glow Lip Balm Intense this summer. This is a darker shade than we have seen before, but still in a creamy melt-away texture that has anti-aging Vitamin E. It is a treat for the lips, and also complements the beautiful eyeshadow palette above. Dab it on and smudge it out with a finger for a sheerer look, or layer it on as lipstick for the evening.
