Chanel has released a 2nd color makeup collection for Spring 2020, this one diametrically opposite to the warm-toned desert-inspired collection that preceded earlier [reviewed here], but sharing the same dreamy vibes. This La Fleur et L’Eau collection celebrates spring’s awakening with floral and aquatic inspirations bringing delicate translucent color. This is a rather extensive collection encompassing several options for the lips, eyes, cheek and nails. For the collectors, there are 3 palettes designed with swirls of camellia that should not be missed.
I usually like to start my explorations with eye color makeup, but I think the focal point of Chanel’s La Fleur et L’eau collection is the lips. There are 3 options, each as beautiful as the other, and I think there is a place for all of them this season. The star here is of course the Camelias d’Eau Exclusive Creation Lip Palette. This is a handy pocket-sized palette that carries 4 creamy lip colors designed to resemble a tiny bouquet of camellias. Whilst I don’t generally favour lip palettes for practical reasons, these are so exquisitely presented, resembling lacquered art, that I find completely irresistible.
The 4 shades are close but not identical, each a varying shade of rose. I have swatched them for you alongside the 2 Rouge Coco Flash lipsticks and 2 Rouge Allure Ink Fusion from this collection.
I personally feel that the Rouge Coco Flash are perfect for Spring makeup looks, in fact this is my favourite lipstick formula across all brands and something I wear daily. You can refer my review on the formula here. The Rouge Allure Ink Fusion is a relatively new product that I have been meaning to review. It is one of the most comfortable matte liquid lip products that I’ve tried, and the shade 832 Pivoine has become my favourite pink lipstick ever since I received it.
Moving to the eyes, there are 2 beautiful palettes, each bearing the same enchanting camellia design. Both are cool-toned and equally pretty. The first is the Les 4 Ombres Au Fil des Fleurs composed of everybody’s favourite pink and purple hues. Here are the swatches for your reference:
The shades all bear some level of micro-shimmers and are all satin in finish. There is a translucency to them, allowing easy layering for a water-color effect. Somehow Au Fil des Fleurs remind me of Monet’s famous water lillies, serene and elegant. I paired it with Rouge Allure Ink Fusion Pivoine for this makeup look…
The other eyeshadow palette is surprising for a spring release, despite its pretty appearance, it is actually capable of creating a captivating smokey eye look.
The shades remind me of a cool misty morning by the lakeside, the waters a silvery mirror or light. These shades combine into an elegant day-look that brings soft definition to the eyes, and may also be amped up into an edgier smokey eye for night.
Here is my rendition for day wear, paired with Rouge Coco Flash in Eau de Rose…
Due to the circuit breaker in place, I have been wearing my hair up in a ponytail everyday now, and have not been able to find the energy to curl my hair properly. I did put on a couple of new dresses that I bought before this current situation and when I was still pregnant to complete these 2 makeup looks though. One of them I couldn’t zip up properly, so I’ve got some ways still to get back into shape before re-entering society.
