I never was a very big believer in fate, although I do recognise there is such a thing as being in the right place at the right time. As Chanel used to say, “..chance only comes to those who know how to recognize it, carried by a gust of optimism.” And there is nothing more uplifting and joyful than Chanel Chance. This Summer, Chance celebrates its 12th birthday, and introduces to us a brand new member of the family – Chance Eau Vive!
The Chanel Chance family has always been the more youthful and vivacious fragrances from the brand, and for that reason I’ve never really took to any of them in the past. However, once I had a whiff of the latest Chance Eau Vive, I knew things were irrevocably changed for the better!
Chance Eau Vive starts with a big burst of grapefruit that is both juicy and invigorating, but also brings a slight bitter tang which gives the fragrance its characteristic note. There is some orange sanguine in there to keep things sweet but not overly so. Within minutes, Chance Eau Vive settles on the skin with a harmonious mix of jasmine and white musk. It feels warm like a summer’s eve, but still retaining the light-hearted joie de vivre that is the charm of Chance fragrances.
What is different about Chance Eau Vive is its woody base of fresh vetiver, cedar and iris. Though very soft, the accord lends Chance Eau Vive a more grown-up, sophisticated air. For all its vivacity, this fragrance stays fairly close to the skin, which makes it easy to wear even on a hot day without ever feeling overwhelmed.
I have been spritzing Chanel Chance Eau Vive on myself non-stop ever since I got hold of it…. it is simply addictive! There is something uniquely modern about a scent that is so full of feminine charm, and yet ethereal like a whisper. At the same time, it really does not last very long on me, about 3-4 hours and it is gone. I do wish they produce a small purse atomiser version soon, because this is one I’d like to continually refresh throughout the day!
Have you tried Eau Vive or any of the other Chance fragrances?
This post featured a product that was kindly provided for my consideration. Regardless, all opinions expressed here are my own honest, unbiased views.
I have the Eau Tendre and Eau Fraiche and love them equally! However…please, please, please release them in parfum! And..the new au vivre as an atomiser please as I love to swap and change my perfumes every day, when I go away, and carrying full bottles is WAY to heavy in the handbag. Tried the Eau Vivre last month and it’s top of my list to get next 😉
I love Chance Eau Fraiche in summer. I have yet to try Eau Vive. I had a small sample, might start with that one 🙂 Intrigued after your wonderful review.
Hey Sara, Eau Fraiche is fresher, greener. Eau Vive feels like something that’ll transition well from summer to fall. Let me know how you like it!
Ahhh so your experience is in line with mine! I love the scent, but wish it’d last longer! Would be great if they release a smaller version indeed, like the small Chance they did earlier this year.
Hi Sunny, yes i really wished this lasts much longer. 🙁 The BA was telling me this one already lasts the longest out of all the Chance fragrances, i find that hard to believe, but I don’t own the others so I can’t be sure.
Oh that’s not true. I have the original and it lasts just as well as another EDT on me 😉
oh now that’s good to know!!
