YSL Tatouage Couture Nº 8, 9, 16, 22

January 9, 2018

When I think of liquid lipstick, my mind immediately goes to YSL as it was one of the first brands to introduce such a product, and the YSL Glossy Stain has been a category defining product for decades.  And impossible as it may seem, YSL has turned out something even better, the YSL Tatouage Couture!

YSL Tatouage Couture, unlike the Glossy Stains, are matte in finish and much longer lasting.  They come in a pocket-sized tube with a clear body that allows you to clearly tell the shade of the product within.  The top twists open to reveal an angled applicator that spreads out the product in a thin, even layer; and allows a defined contour.

There are 18 shades in all, each of which go on pigmented so a thin layer is all that is needed.  I don’t feel the need to re-dip the applicator in order to cover both my lips.  However, I do feel some shades are a little less opaque than others and require more than one swipe, but that is an easy problem to solve.

I have 4 shades and they are:

After application, YSL Tatouage Couture remains workable for about a minute or two, allowing you to blend or sheer out as desired.  Once it sets though, it is completely budgeproof until removed.  I can eat without fear of leaving dreaded lip rings around my coffee mugs.  But it does wear off slightly with a heavy meal, although enough of it remains to still provide some color.  I love that it has a slightly luminous finish despite being matte, and that it does not overly emphasize the lines on my lips.  It also does not dry out my lips even with continuous days of wear.

This post featured products that were generously provided for my consideration.  Regardless all opinions expressed here are my own honest, unbiased views.
