The Holiday collections always boast of some highlighter or shimmer powder, after all, there is no better time to shine than at year-end celebratory parties. And this year, Urban Decay has brought back the Naked Illuminated Shimmering Powder for Face & Body in 2 shades – Aura and Luminous. Luminous is a re-promote from last year’s Holiday collection, and Aura is brand new!
I’m not a big fan of carton packaging, but this one feels thick and sturdy, and it even has a magnetic closure. When you first lift the lid, you are greeted by the large single pan in all its shimmering beauty and a good-sized mirror on the inside of the lid.
There is a second layer underneath which houses a fan-shaped brush which feels as plush as synthetic brushes go.
The powder itself is a golden peach with the most amazing multi-colored iridescent shimmers I have ever seen! When I first swatched it, I was worried it would be too frosty and glittery, but as it turns out, my skin eats up shimmers for breakfast! The way I apply it is to gently dab my brush on it, depending on how much it picks up, I tap off excess and then lightly apply. This way, I found most of the big glitter has fallen off or trapped between the bristles of the brush so that the end result on the face is less sparkly.
There is a bit of a frosted finish though, so those who prefer a much more subdued highlighter may want to approach with caution. On the other hand, it is party season, and I think it is as good a time as any to bling it up and shine like the jewel that you are! And while you’re at it, feel free to dust some shimmer on your hair, use it to brighten up the inner corners of your eyes, or even buff some on your collar and décolletage for a little something extra. Go ahead and have some fun, you deserve it!

Hi Linda,
is it a baked highlighter? It looks lovely in the pan and peachy undertones are intriguing. I will check that out, thanks for the review and lovely photos.
Hi Sara, yes it’s baked! It’s not expensive at all!
