Last Summer, Tom Ford institutionalized the Soleil Collection as a recurring seasonal makeup range for the luxurious bohemian. Not one to be bound by natural climatic conditions, the Tom Ford woman travels the world in seek of sun and glamour. So when the rest of the world is celebrating white Christmas, Tom Ford brings us the Winter Soleil Collection! At the heart of the collection are 2 exquisite Eye & Cheek Palettes, conveniently labelled Warm & Cool… take a closer look with me today!
The new Tom Ford Winter Soleil Eye & Cheek Palettes are elegantly housed in a palm-sized palette that resembles a clutch, with white enamel and gold trims. Inside sits a generous-sized mirror, 4 eyeshadows, 1 blush and 1 highlighter. I am glad Tom Ford did not try to fit a brush inside, which would have diminished the aesthetics of the packaging and raised the cost further.
Fans of Tom Ford makeup will probably find the design of the eyeshadows familiar as they follow the best of Tom Ford Eye Quads. Each contain a gorgeous satin all-over shade, soft-matte darkening / smoky shade, 1-2 pale glitters and an optional pale shimmer shade. I had a really difficult time choosing between the warm and cool palettes, as they both look incredibly beautiful to me, and I can imagine using them time and time again. In the end, I went with the Cool Palette, and here is a closeup look at the palette:

At first sight, the eyeshadow section of the Winter Soleil Cool Palette resembled a cross between Seductive Rose and Silvered Topaz [reviewed here], but I was surprised it is quite unique and not as purple as it first appeared. I know taupe is universally well-liked, but it’s not often I find one that is special, and this one really impressed me. The eggplant shade blends out so beautifully, and the addition of violet micro-shimmers give it depth without being too obtrusive and blingy. The 2 glitter shades give us the option of layering up or taking things down a notch, and I love how Tom Ford glitters never look OTT and I don’t have to worry about fallout.
Let me just say upfront, that the pricing (SGD250 / USD155) gave me serious sticker shock; but if you consider a typical Tom Ford eye quad retails for SGD119/USD82 and the cheek duo from Summer 2016 was SGD119/USD78; the new Winter Soleil Palette is roughly the combination of the 2. I had a healthy dose of skepticism when I first dipped my brush into this palette, after all, this is not my first Tom Ford. But after trying all the recent Christmas and Fall 2016 palettes, I definitely noticed a difference in quality. Suffice to say, I am now on a mad hunt to get a hold of the other Warm palette!!
I managed to swatch this at a media preview,
Between the 2, I think the Warm palette is perhaps more dupeable. But if memory serves me well, the dark brown matte shade in the Warm palette felt smoother when swatching; and there are obviously less glitter shades. Whichever you choose to go with, rest assured that the resultant look will be elegant and chic, and like me, you’ll find it hard to switch to anything else after this!
The Tom Ford Winter Soleil 2016 Collection will be launching in Singapore (counters at TANGS Orchard and Raffles City Robinsons) on 1 December. Stocks of these Eye & Cheek Palettes are extremely limited, so better be there early to avoid disappointment!

If only it’s not SGD250. LOL! And by now, I’m guessing they’re all sold out?
yes if only!! hahaha…. yup all sold within the first hour!!!
I am over the moon for the warm palette. Shade 1 and the shade below it can stand on their own as single washes of colour. I can’t stop looking at my eyes! Also love the highlighter shade, which is unique to my collection. If all I received for Xmas was this palette and the TF Seadragon lip foil, I would be absolutely delighted. I bought both with the help of Sephora’s 20% off VIBR discount earlier this month. Am still smiling ear-to-ear. A must-have, in my opinion. Great review, Linda, as always.
So envious that you guys had the 20% discount!! I always love your detailed comments Tracey, and how you wear the shades are an inspration to me. I really wanted to see those lip foils, although i’m pretty sure they’re not really my kind of thing, but Seadragon of course looked so interesting! It was a huge pity we never received them here in Singapore!
Thank you for your kind words. Your reviews and makeup application are inspirations to me. Have you seen that a 3rd Tom Ford Soleil palette is about to launch? The shadows lean warm; the blush & highlighter lean cool. Really Ree just posted swatches. I’m also looking forward to the next Chanel collection (Les Beiges, with the tweed blush) and the cream blush duos from Tom Ford and Bobbi Brown. Lots of Spring popping up everywhere!
Sigh, every time I see a post on these palettes, I want to pick them up. I swatched them in stores and thought they were a little underwhelming, but then again, most things underwhelm me lately. Perhaps I’m finally saturated with my cosmetics and everything is starting to look the same? O.O I do love that taupe shade and one of the glitter shades, but I keep looking at my Shu glitters and thinking I already have the same color somewhere!
I know what you mean… after awhile, everything starts to look the same! I’m pretty sure I have dupes lying around, if not close enough substitutes. But I know when I picked up this palette and started applying it, I was stunned by how good it really is. And I don’t say that flippantly, but when the bar is already so high from being surrounded by all the great brands around us… the air gets pretty thin all around!
I love the look of the cool palette. This is so stunning and great for travel. I would definitely love to own this beauty. It looks great on you. xoxo
It really is a great one for traveling! I’m definitely eyeing the other warm one too…..! 😉
These palettes are soooo luxurious and beautiful! The cool palette is the one I’d grab if I were to get one because I love those taupe shades! It looks so wonderful on you.

I had initially thought it was more purple, but obviously it is taupe and an interesting one at that. Love it, so easy to wear, goes with everything!
These palettes are positively gorgeous. I was just on the Neiman Marcus site yesterday contemplating them. It’s hard to pull the trigger since I just bought 4 quads which I’ve only had a chance to use 2 so far! I’m really wanting the warm shades. I was hoping the Black Friday discount would apply! No luck on that one! HAHAHH So beautiful and it looks great on you! You can pull off any colors and look so beautiful. Perfect features! Perfect skin tone! Lucky lady!
Hahaha… dammit! LOLOL! Did you pick up the warm palette regardless?? I’m eyeing the warm one now… just because i love this cool one so much! And hello…. there’s no such thing as perfect features or perfect skin tone!! :**
No, but only because the shades are similar to my Soleil palette and then eyeshadows … well, clearly I have a problem because I must have 100 palettes and I’m still buying. So, I’m really trying to stop. I just picked up the new Estee Edit Gritty and Glow and I have had it a week and haven’t taken it out of the bag! Where do you store all your stuff? Mine is positively EVERYWHERE (including the fridge)
