Tom Ford Eye Color Duo in Raw Jade for Spring 2015

February 11, 2015

I am reminded today of how wonderful it is to have like-minded blogger friends who are willing to share. Meryl of Memoiselle.com and I did a little swap of our Tom Ford Spring 2015 items, and I’m delighted to be able to round up my review of the collection with Tom Ford Eye Color Duo in Raw Jade.

Tom Ford Raw Jade Eye Color Duo is 1 of 3 limited edition eyeshadow duos for Spring 2015. I had previously provided an introduction to the entire collection and a detailed look at Crushed Indigo here, and reviewed Ripe Plum here. As I had already discussed this new wet and dry formula in the past, please feel free to hop over those pages for more details, whilst I keep this post fairly concise.

Raw Jade consists of an opaline mint green and a dark khaki with golden shimmers. The texture is soft and smooth, on par with Ripe Plum, with Crushed Indigo being the driest of the lot. The color intensifies when applied with a damp brush, and when layered together, they form a cool-toned metallic shimmering green.

Here is how Raw Jade looks on my lids:

It’s beautiful, and the color shows up very nicely. However, when layered, Raw Jade turns out much cooler against my skin tone than I’d normally wear, and so to make it more day-accessible, I prefer applying the opaline mint green all over followed by the darker green just on the outer corner of my eyes and blend it in. The resultant look is as follows:

Tom Ford Eye Color Duo in Raw Jade lasts all day on my lids without creasing or fading. When I first saw Raw Jade, I had thought it would be a dupe for Sahara Haze, an older Tom Ford Eye Color Quad that has now been discontinued. However, having played around with Raw Jade a bit more, it feels much cooler-toned than Sahara Haze. Unfortunately, I had sold my Sahara Haze some time ago so I am unable to provide comparison swatches here today, but Sara at ColorMeLoud has that well covered.  The conclusion is, not all that similar at all.

And to give you an idea of how Raw Jade looks in context, here is the complete LOTD:

    Thanks for the shoutouts Linda!
Raw Jade is my current face eyeshadow, I can’t stop mentioning how gorgeous the colors are! You look gorgeous in greens too!

  3. Sunny says:

Ahhh great, between you, Sara, and Ann (a long-time reader who is also an active Instagrammer), I think I’ve got to get myself one of these duos! I might go for the plum tho, simply because it’s easier to pair. Raw Jade is stunning on you!

  4. Looking gorgeous, I love the combination of the lipstick and eye makeup.
I have yet to try to wear the light shade without layering, on you it looks so good.
