This is Her! #ThisIsZadig! Zadig & Voltaire

There are some brands that I just find really intriguing, and Zadig & Voltaire is one of those.  Of course, there is the Parisian insouciant flair, but beyond that is the casual-chic lived-in style sensibility that appeals to me.  And when age is made irrelevant, the encouragement to be free from rules and boundaries, one can lose yourself completely and just simply be.  That is the Zadig & Voltaire manifesto, and it is perfectly interpreted in its latest fragrance release – This is Her!

This is Her! is 1 of a pair of fragrances that represent an re-interpretation of Zadig & Voltaire, a convergence of the spirit of the brand in fragrance form.  The bottles are minimalistically designed, clear white for Her, opaque black for Him.  They are made to be together, and yet each stand alone unique with a shattered side to symbolise the breaking of stereotypes.

Zadig & Voltaire This is Her! really surprised me because it is nothing like the mass market designer fragrance that I had expected.  When I first took a whiff on a blotter, it was punchy with its tart pink peppercorn.  However, when I spritzed it on my skin, I was completely blown away. Clearly the Zadig & Voltaire woman is no meek wallflower, but she is unafraid to step up and join in a rock band or take a lead as she pleases.  This is Her! is a punchy fragrance, boldness with an intense woody base of sandalwood, yet softened at the edges with chestnut and vanilla.  It demands to be noticed, so much so that even my little 4 year old son commented on it.  Of course, in his limited exposure of tastes and fragrances, he described it as strawberry and chilli, which is not so far off if you consider the gourmand yet crisp juicy character of strawberries and spiciness of chilli.

This is Her! stays strong on me for a good 8 hours, and really a tiny spritz is all I need.  The fragrance fades slightly towards the end, but stayed very close to the original scent.  And where it transferred to my garments, I could still catch a whiff of it the next day!  This sort of sillage and longevity I have only ever experienced with Tom Ford Black Orchid.  So in case you don’t really wish to go so bold, This is Her! is also available as a deodorant spray, scented shower gel and scented body lotion.
