It is always a pleasure to try out the latest that Tatcha has to offer, especially when it arrives in such a lovely package! The new Tatcha Pore Perfecting Water Gel Moisturizer is the perfect lightweight moisturizer for these hot, humid summer months, and especially ideal for those with oily skin.
Tatcha packaging is always top notch, but this time I was particularly enraptured by the luminous light aquatic green the Tatcha Pore Perfecting Water Gel Moisturizer came in. There is an graduated ombre effect going from white near the bottom to green at the top, with a slight translucency to the glass bottle which reminds me of the highest quality of unblemished jade. Complete with a luxurious heft and a touch of rose gold detailing, the entirety is exquisitely precious.
The texture is a watery gel that is easy to spread over the entire face and is completely absorbed in a matter of seconds, leaving no trace of stickiness behind. It is so lightweight that it is ideal for those who may have any aversion to using additional skincare in the hot summer months. Those with oily skin may also find this to be a perfect daily staple because it has pore tightening and oil balancing properties, whilst maintaining the moisture level in skin. What makes this a truly luxurious product is the inclusion of 23k gold dust to leave skin with an imperceptible glow to replicate the summer luminosity.
Tatcha Pore Perfecting Water Gel Moisturizer is formulated with a thoughtful range of ingredients such as Japanese Wild Rose and Sophora Anguvstifolia to help refine pores and keep skin mattified. Matricaria Flower Extract and Houttuynia Cordata Extract soothe and calm sensitivities; whilst Belamcanda Chinensis Root Extract prevents acne. The classical Tatcha formula also includes Green Tea Leaf Extract which is an excellent antioxidant and has anti-inflammatory properties; Rice Extract which has skin softening benefits and lots of nourishing vitamins and minerals; Silk Extract which has reparative and skin conditioning properties; and Licorice to prevent hyper pigmentation. As much as I wanted to love all things Tatcha, this is unfortunately not suited for those with dehydrated / dry skin like me. Even when layered with a deep hydration serum and running around in my humid tropical climate, my skin turned dry and wrinkly after about 6 hours due to the lack of any oils or emollients. There is also a slight tightening sensation after application which lasts for a minute or two, and is not uncomfortable but leaves a nice pore-less finish afterwards. I think this would work fabulously on those with oily skin concerns, and the formulation seems perfectly sound. Of course, I can’t speak from personal experience, so I would love to hear from those of you who have tried it!
