With every beauty brand fully on board the cushion wagon, Sulwhasoo now goes one step further with a luxurious new offering that combines skincare benefits with coverage – the Sulwhasoo Perfecting Cushion Intense!
Sulwhasoo was one of the first luxury brands to introduce the world to cushion foundations, and has been treasured by ladies in the know for years. The latest Perfecting Cushion Intense is beautifully presented in an elegant mahogany brown casing with golden trims. The accompanying puff applicator feels nice and plush on my skin, and does a good job of diffusing the product on my face.
Leveraging on Sulwhasoo’s holistic approach towards skincare, the Perfecting Cushion is formulated with Red Pine extract, which is featured in the brand’s Timetreasure range designed for mature skin. Red Pine extract contains DAA which heightens the skin’s natural resilience and rejuvenating mechanisms. The cushion also contains Plum Blossom extract which is a good source of antioxidants to prevent pre-mature aging from external aggressors. Furthermore, I like that it has SPF50+ / PA+++ to protect skin against UVA/UVB rays. For the full list of ingredients, please click here.

I’m always wary of Korean cushions for their propensity to go overboard on the dewiness, so I was relieved to find this Sulwhasoo Perfecting Cushion Intense leaves a nice luminous glow whilst giving my dry skin a satin-matte finish. The coverage is definitely good as you can see the noticeable improvement to my dark circles. There are 7 shades to choose from, and I tried both shade 21 (used in the comparison shot above) and 23. Both would have been suitable for me – 23 would be much more closer to my neck, but I opted for 21 for a slightly brighter effect.
Sulwhasoo Perfecting Cushion Intense is a nice option for those who need additional coverage and a bit of skin-pampering never hurts! Have you tried it yet?
This post featured a product that was generously provided for my consideration. Regardless, all opinions expressed here are my own honest, unbiased views.
I love a cushion! Don’t think we have access to this brand over here though? Will need to check. And agree with you on the dewy tendency, it just doesn’t work for all skin types, so it’s good to have more option. Btw- in the photo you shared about, I swear it doesn’t look like you need to wear any foundation! Your skin is just so good!
Hi Elena, I always love a good coverage foundation! And I am grateful for good skin days like these… but alas that’s not always the case! Don’t we wish for perfect skin all day everyday? 😉
hi Linda,
what a lovely blog!
this cushion seems so plush.. do u think it will be suitable for combi/oily skin?
do you have any foundation recommendations for combi/oily skin?
thanks in advance!
Hi Eunice, thanks for stopping by! I’d say it’s good for normal to combination skin. Oily skin may need more regular touch-ups and perhaps setting with powder. I have dry dehydrated skin myself, and it’s just about right.
This is so pretty and looks great on you. I have a few Sulwhasoo products and love them. Also, thanks for including the ingredient list– no alcohol!
Yes, and it actually does contain some skincare ingredients in there that I like too, like Niacinamide!
I haven’t tried this cushion but the original one they have in the white compact (I think it’s the one in your earlier post) I have LOVED. It’s a perfect match for my skin and I really like that it offers SPF50. It lasts all day. I just don’t like the smell of it. It’s OK, it’s not bad… but it’s a touch weird to me. Anyhow, I have been meaning to order this new compact they released. Wondering how it compares to the original. I’m sure I’d like it. I set mine with Guerlain Meteorites in medium and it’s a flawless finish.
Yes, Sulwhasoo does have that herbal smell. Some people really love it, for others, it takes some getting used to. Thank god it doesn’t linger on!
I didn’t know if it was herbal or the sunscreen I was smelling? It’s weird though. But you are totally right… it doesn’t linger! Do you think this one is a must have if I have the other one?
I think if you really enjoyed the last one, you’d like this one too. It’s quite similar except with the added skincare benefits. Sulwhasoo products all have the same scent… their whitening range has a rather pleasant floral ginseng scent though. The rests… takes a while to get used to.
