Get Glowing with Sulwhasoo Perfecting Cushion EX, Multi Cushion Highlighter & Powder for Cushion

March 20, 2018

I’ve fallen in love with Sulwhasoo recently… as a brand it is not new to me, but it is a slow and incremental journey of explorations.  The more I try and further I venture, the more I realize just how much my skin loves Sulwhasoo’s products!  Their skincare is top-notch and extensive (I recommend you check these out); and the brand is now expanding its makeup offerings, starting with the new and improved Perfecting Cushion EX, and a couple more accompanying products!

Leveraging on its luxury skincare know-how, Sulwhasoo recently released a new version of its popular Perfecting Cushion, with even better skin-pampering properties.  Sulwhasoo Perfecting Cushion EX contains a beta-glucan that soothes sensitivity and redness in skin, and is a great source of antioxidants to counteract environmental stresses.  As with all Sulwhasoo products, the new cushion is formulated with the brand’s exclusive JAUM Balancing Complex™ to restore balance in skin, keeping it hydrated and comfortable throughout the day.

The compact is slightly slimmer than before, though the product content remains the same, and the front cover is updated with the traditional plum blossom pattern.  Sulwhasoo has expanded the shade range slightly to 7 shades (previously there were only 5), and the color identification system has been updated – shades numbers ending with 1, 5 are pink-toned to correct sallowness; 3, 7 are beige-toned to cover redness.

Coverage is amazing with this Sulwhasoo Perfecting Cushion EX.  As you can see from the half-faced comparison image above, I was able to completely conceal my dark circles and redness around my nose with just a few pats!  I also noticed that the cushion adheres and melds to my skin much better than before, the coverage is almost imperceptible, there is no cakiness nor flatness.  The resultant finish is a luminous satin that is glowy without being overly dewy.  For your reference, I am using the shade 23.

To complement the release of the new cushion, Sulwhasoo has also introduced a brand new Multi Cushion Highlighter.  This pretty little cushion contains a peach-toned liquid highlighter that gives a lit-from-within buildable glow that looks natural and youthful.  Tap it on the high points of the face – middle of forehead, nosebridge, above the cheek bones, cupid’s bow and chin – to illuminate and sculpt.  Use it underneath foundation for a subtle effect, or pat it over foundation for more glow.  It contains the same skincare properties as the Perfecting Cushion EX, so skin is given an additional boost.

Sulwhasoo Powder for Cushion

I sometimes have problems applying powder on top of my cushion foundations, there is tendency for the powder to leave a cakey finish (thereby ruining the overall look) or completely mattifying the lovely glow from the cushion.  Hence it was a real pleasure to discover the new Sulwhasoo Powder for Cushion, an elegantly packaged compact powder specially designed to work with cushions.  It is an incredibly finely milled powder that is tightly packed so it does not kick up nor pick up too much.  The resultant application is very sheer, just sufficient to tone down excess shine and set makeup, without any of the dulling effects from ordinary powders.  The enclosed fan brush feels soft and is sufficiently large to cover the entire face with minimal effort, and thin enough to access the narrow crooks and crannies.    I love the luxurious packaging which is bound to elicit envy when taken out of the purse for touch-ups.
