After a seemingly endless bout of skin irritation, I am finally happy to declare my skin free and clear! Woo hoo!! Actually, it has been so for a past couple of week, and I almost didn’t notice the change, until people started commenting on it. Wait, what?! I mean, I’ve been living with this up-and-down state of my skin health all my life that I’ve stopped noting down when things are fine or drab. And most people around me are so used to seeing me in varying conditions that hardly hear anything except when things are at their worst. But interestingly, I’ve been getting awed comments from men and women alike, asking what is it that I’ve been doing differently lately; and this is the best part – some thought I lost weight because my chin looked sharper! Woo hoo!!! Initially I thought ok, it must be the Thermage [read here]. But when the founder of a highly-regarded luxury skincare brand recently commented that my skin has that youthful bounce, it got me thinking. Sure, I’ve been using a couple of new things lately, that could all be playing their parts. But when it comes to recreating that youthful bounce, I’m pretty sure it is all thanks to the new Shu Uemura Tsuya Skin Bouncy-Fine Cream!
I’ve introduced Shu Uemura’s Tsuya skin range before [read here], consisting of the purifying lotion, serum and eye cream. I’m a terrible stickler for using all things from the same family as far as possible, and so I’ve been waiting for a moisturizer to join the family for a long time. And I was very happy to see Shu Uemura has recently released 2 new moisturizers to cater to different skin types – Tsuya Bouncy-Fine Emulsion for oily and combination skin, and Tsuya Bouncy-Fine Cream for all skin types. Since I have dehydrated, dry-combination skin, I opted for the Cream.
As with all other members of the Tsuya family, the new Bouncy-Fine Cream contains the key ingredient Rhamnose. This is a high-tech molecule created by Shu Uemura’s research center, to boost cell regeneration and metabolism. A new Bounce Complex has been added to densify skin’s extra-cellular matrix, to create a better environment to reactivate skin’s youth power switch. This is formulated with Marron Extract which helps regulate the skin barrier function, maintain moisture levels in the epidermal layer, and increase the level of ceramides. Royal Jelly Extract is rich in nutrients and helps in the synthesis of collagen and elastin for firm, more toned skin with a smoother appearance.
Typically for day-time use, I would reach for emulsions and reserve creams for night-times. However, since my skin has turned rather dry and dehydrated lately, I have been finding emulsions not sufficient to keep my skin soft and moisturized throughout my long 12-hour days. I loved that the Bouncy-Fine Cream had a wonderful lightweight texture that feels silky to the touch, and absorbed completely into my skin quickly without any greasiness. It allows my makeup to go over smoothly right away, and it kept my skin a smooth canvas throughout the day. As I tend to develop some shine on my t-zone as the day progresses, I always notice when certain moisturizers help me control shine, and I am very pleased to find this Tsuya cream does exactly that.
As with all skincare, when something goes awry, it usually becomes noticeable very quickly. However, good skincare only shows over a prolonged period of use. I’ve actually been using this Shu Uemura Tsuya Bouncy-Fine Cream conscientiously for over 2 months now, and I’m surprised by the noticeable effects. In the spirit of full disclosure, I’ve also been trying a bunch of other new skincare that I am loving (and will review shortly), so it is wonderful to know this cream is working well in tandem to create an overall lovely effect!
