Shu Uemura Art of Hair Ultimate Remedy & Essence Absolue Oil

January 24, 2016

I have been in search for the perfect haircare for the past year or longer, as the products that I was using grew gradually less effective over time.  My hair has grown steadily damaged over the years due to continual coloring, rebonding, and regular use of flat irons without applying any protective products.  The problem was made a million times worse about 5 months ago when I bleached part of my hair and dyed them all sorts of crazy colors.  So, it was as if I had finally found the pot of gold at the end of a long journey when I woke up 1 morning to soft, tangle-free hair!  And my miracle hair-saver were a shampoo & conditioner from Shu Uemura Art of Hair Ultimate Remedy & Essence Absolue Oil!

I was first introduced to Shu Uemura Art of Hair during a Master Ceremony Luxury Hair Treatment last year.  There are only a handful of exclusive salons in Singapore offering such treatments, and I had mine at Next Salon in Ion Orchard.  Prior to this, I had no idea that the beauty brand that I have been enjoying also carried such an extensive range of hair products!  I was very impressed by the thoughtful approach Shu Uemura had towards hair care, and the ability to custom-blend treatments to suit everybody.  It was truly a pampering session, and for those who are in need of some me-time without having to travel out of the city, I highly recommend you check it out!

Shortly after my salon treatment, I was offered the opportunity to test out their latest homecare products from their new Ultimate Remedy range, as well as their best selling Essence Absolu Oil.  And ever since then, Shu Uemura has become my hair’s daily staple!

Shu Uemura Art of Hair Ultimate Remedy Extreme Restoration Shampoo

Shu Uemura Art of Hair Ultimate Remedy Extreme Restoration Shampoo is a milky shampoo that cleanses my hair well without leaving it feeling all stripped out and tangled in a mess.  It feels extremely gentle yet effective, and a little bit goes a long way.  This is not the kind of shampoo that lathers up a cloud, but it rinses out well without leaving any residue behind.

The Extreme Restoration Shampoo contains ceramides and lotus root extract to restore hair strength.  After several rounds of chemical processes, the hair shaft becomes very porous and weakened.  The ceramides effectively “patches” up the hair shaft so they become more “solid” and is more receptive to other treatments.

Shu Uemura Art of Hair Ultimate Remedy Extreme Restoration Treatment is a rich silky-cream mask that nourishes and strengthens my hair.  For optimal results, apply on the ends of towel-dried hair after shampoo-ing, and leave on for 10-15 minutes before rinsing off.  When I first received it, I brought it with me to Italy, shortly after I had bleached and dyed my hair.  On the trip, I tried it for the very first time, and was so in love with it, I ended up using it every day.  This treatment saved my hair from turning into straw, detangling and smoothening my hair, and putting much-needed moisture back.

I’ve used other hair repair / strengthening treatments in the past, but they usually end up making my hair feel thicker / coarser over time.  Whilst that is useful in preventing severely damaged ends from breaking, in the long run, I really notice the departure from my original soft hair.  What I really enjoy about Shu Uemura Art of Hair Ultimate Remedy Extreme Restoration Treatment is that it not only strengthens my hair fiber, but also leaves it feeling soft and nourished.

Shu Uemura Art of Hair Essence Absolue Oil

I use the Ultimate Remedy Extreme Restoration Treatment about 1-2 times a week, and on every other day I would apply 1 pump of Shu Uemura Art of Hair Essence Absolue Oil to the ends of my hair before bed.  This Essence Absolue Oil contains a high concentration of Camellia Seed Oil, which is wonderful for conditioning the hair, promoting hair growth (although I don’t actually apply this on the scalp!), and purportedly preventing grey hair.  What I really love about this oil is that the scent is really light and does not linger on for very long.  It is a lightweight oil that gets absorbed easily by my hair without weighing them down, and it also does not leave my hands feeling greasy.  More importantly, it puts a healthy shine back to my tresses, and I wake up to soft, tangle-free hair every morning!!

Overall, I’ve really enjoyed every bit of Shu Uemura Art of Hair so far!  If you have extremely damaged and basically fried hair like me, I highly recommend checking out Shu Uemura’s Ultimate Remedy collection and their most popular Essence Absolu Oil!

  1. I’ve used the shampoo and the mask and I loved both. Haven’t tried the oil yet though and to be honest, I don’t think I will. I just don’t think my greasy hair can handle it.

I’m always searching for the right shampoo for my hair. Actually, it’s my oily scalp because once it gets oily, my hair will fall. So, I need a shampoo that protects my hair while keeping the oily scalp at bay. I’ve tried many, and recently, Living Proof PHD shampoo. It works quite well actually. I also find that if it’s paraben free, my scalp does not get oily as fast. I wonder if it’s a coincidence.

Hey Lily, have you tried Aveda’s peppermint shampoo? It’s great for oily scalps but does not dry out the hair. i find the peppermint very refreshing! I’ve not tried Living Proof but i’ve heard it’s over-hyped from some friends. Glad it’s working well for you!
