One of the key vestiges of beauty is fair, spot-less skin, and it is a real battle as our skin is constantly being exposed to UV rays no matter how hard we try to hide from direct sun. Traditional skincare in the whitening / brightening arena has targeted existing spots and tried to lighten or dissolve them. Now, Shiseido has taken things one step further with the all-new White Lucent All Day Brightener.
Shiseido White Lucent All Day Brightener is the Japanese brand’s latest day-time moisturizer, and it is powered by Shiseido’s proprietary 4MsK which is able to penetrate deep into the inner layers of the skin; and Multi-Target Vitamin C which provides whitening effect on the skin. The latter is more powerful and stable than conventional vitamin C derivatives in reducing melanin and inhibiting the formation of dark melanin spots. In order to ensure a continuous fresh supply of whitening ingredients to combat UV damage throughout the day, Shiseido has encapsulated the ingredients in timed-release capsules that will burst open at specific intervals throughout the day. With continued use, skin becomes brighter, clearer, and dullness and yellowness are reduced.
The All Day Brightener also contains Super Hydro-Synergy Complex to help the skin retain moisture. It keeps the skin plump and helps to retexturize the surface of the skin. SPF36 PA+++ provides broad spectrum protection against UV rays, and helps to protect against further damage.
The White Lucent All Day Brightener comes in a sleek squeeze tube with a very pretty screw cap. The product itself has a silkened cream texture which feels slightly heavy for day-time use. It carries a very slight light floral scent which is quite pleasant but not too noticeable. After smoothing on the skin, I found it left a slightly sticky feeling on the skin but that dissipates after about a minute or so. Also, my skin looks noticeably more luminous after application and this is due to a Light-Transform Powder in the moisturizer. This powder gives the White Lucent All Day Brightener its white color and gives the skin a slight brightened appearance, but when exposed to UV rays, the powder releases fluorescent light, making the skin appear even more translucent.
The silky texture and brightening effect makes Shiseido’s White Lucent All Day Brightener a lovely pre-makeup preparatory base. The timed-release capability heightens its whitening effect and makes it a wonderful daily companion. On my skin it works well on days when I’m running around, and does not feel heavy nor clogs up my skin. It also does not turn my skin overly dewy as the day progresses. However, for days when my skin is severely dehydrated and/or when I’m in air-conditioning for up to 10 hours or more, this is not hydrating enough on its own. So for those with dry skin, I suggest pairing it with a good hydrating serum.
Shiseido White Lucent All Day Brightener SPF36 PA+++ retails for SGD85 for 50ml and is already out in counters.
