Hello dear friends! I took a short trip to visit my sister and nephew in Germany over the weekend, which is kind of a crazy thing to do considering the trip took me halfway around the world and back in just a matter of days. But there is a higher purpose to everything, and it was one of my best experiences I have with them. I hope you got the chance to check out some of my video snaps on my Instastory, if not, you should definitely follow me on Instagram to be notified in future #shamelessplug!
For now, I would like to turn your attention to a couple of new releases from Shu Uemura!
This September, Shu Uemura launches its #PerfectYourFaceCanvas campaign, and there are 2 new products to keep your base luminous and glowy.
Shu Uemura Stage:Performer Blockbooster is a new facial primer that serves 3 purposes – block environmental stressors, boost hydration, and correct imperfections. The lightweight fluid goes on seamlessly and imperceptibly, and leaves my skin looking smoother and more luminous. A color boosting gel technology smoothens out the surface of the skin, enhancing light reflection for a better glow. Apart from the colorless one that I have here, Blockbooster is also available in a natural beige and fresh pink to correct ruddy and dull complexions.
I like that the texture does not feel heavy and silicon-y the way many primers do, instead Blockbooster feels more like a light moisturizer and really does help keep my dehydrated skin plump and moist. It contains Water Lily extract that has moisturizing properties, and has a moisture veil technology to trap moisture within the skin and prevent evaporation. Peony and Corn extracts provide antioxidant and anti-inflammation benefits to protect the skin from environmental pollutants. It is further enhanced with SPF50 sun protection, making this a true multipurpose product.
Shu Uemura takes its popular Lightbulb franchise to an even more refined level this year with the Aerial Compact Foundation. Just like the older UV Compact Foundation and the Oleo-Pact Foundation [reviewed here], this compact comes in a double-tiered case, and a special sponge that features a luxe flocked side. This helps to pick up and apply the powder very airily, for a very natural, my-skin-but-better finish. Also, the powder feels much more finely milled than the older UV Compact Foundation, and contains some very fine crystalline pearls for a bright, luminous finish.
I don’t usually wear powder foundation on its own, but use them on top of a cream/fluid base to set and for additional coverage where needed. In this case, I had first applied Shu Uemura Block Booster all over my face as a primer. Thereafter, I buffed a thin layer of BB Cream all over to even out my skin tone. Finally, I swept Shu Uemura Lightbulb Aerial Compact Foundation on the right side of my face using the flocked side of the sponge. You may click on the image to enlarge, and you will notice the Aerial Compact Foundation brightened and erased all traces of darkness and uneven skin tone. More importantly, the powder floats over my skin beautifully, smoothening out pores without caking up nor falling into creases.
It has been a really long time since I wore any powder at all, including all finishing and setting powders, because my skin has become so dry lately. So I was really surprised to find myself liking the addition of Shu Uemura Lightbulb Aerial Compact Foundation to my base. It is the perfect lightweight, sheer coverage powder for a flawless, natural look. Shu Uemura Stage:Performer Blockbooster is a wonderful addition to Shu Uemura’s considerable range of primers, and is ideal for those with dehydrated and dry skin. The high SPF50 sun protection and moisturizing properties make this a unique multipurpose product perfectly suited for our hot, sunny weather in Singapore! Both products are available from 1 September onwards, and are permanent!
