For a season after I graduated from college, I would wake up in cold sweat after witnessing the most horrifying nightmare – that I had overslept, jumped out of bed and dashed to my exam hall with barely 30 minutes left on the clock, only to find out I was stark naked! Thankfully, I never had the habit of sleeping in the buff (I was living in frozen Michigan!), so that would never have happened. But as every multi-tasking busy modern woman would have experienced at one point of their lives or other, it is no fun having to run out of the house without an extra second to spare for fixing up their makeup. And now, with Urban Decay’s Naked On The Run, you don’t have to!
Naked On The Run is the latest release from Urban Decay, just in time for Holiday 2014 gifting, and a perfect way to jumpstart a new year. It features 6 eyeshadows (5 regular sized ones and 1 extra large shade that doubles up as a highlighter too), blusher and bronzer. To complete the look, there is also a deluxe-sized Perversion mascara in black, 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Stag (deep brown), and a full-sized Naked Lipgloss in Sesso (sheer mauve).
I wished they hadn’t inserted a full sized Naked lipgloss in there as it made the entire palette much thicker. It really would have made much more sense to have a couple of eye and cheek brushes in there instead, especially since my brushes always get squashed up when I carry them in my makeup pouch.
The quality for the most part is excellent, extremely soft and silky, and well pigmented. I have never been a huge fan of the Naked palettes as I found most of them too monotonal and too nude for my taste, but this Naked On The Run palette really amped things up a notch and made it a whole lot more interesting to me. There are 3 shimmer shades, and the eyeshadow palette goes nicely from pinks to beige to taupe and bronze. Everything you need to get from a day at the office to dinner and drinks at night!
The eyeshadow shades from left to right are:
And the other powder products, from left to right, are:
And this is how it all looks on me! For the eyes, I started with 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Stag along the last line, smudged upwards to mid-lid. Thereafter, I applied Fix all over the lid up to the socket, followed by Resist all over but concentrating more on the lower part of the lid. Next, Stun on the outer half of the lid. Finally, I dabbed some 5050 on the middle of the lid just for a bit of pop.
Blusher on cheeks, 5050 to highlight, and bronzer to sculpt. I must say the blusher is really very pigmented, I over applied the very first time and had to buff it out and powder over to tone down the clown. Naked Lipgloss Sesso on lips… I’m not sure Sesso is flattering on me, it is much too sheer and the color too nude for my pigmented lips, but it can be switched out to any shade from the permanent collection.
Urban Decay Naked On The Run will be launching on 5 December at all Sephoras in Singapore, and will retail for SGD85.
Heads-up for my lucky Singapore-based readers! The first two customers in queue at Sephora Ion who purchase Naked on the Run on 5 Dec at 6pm will be gifted the Naked Vault (valued at over $550)! The next 4 customers in queue are eligible to purchase the Naked Vault at $388 with purchase of Naked on the Run. First 100 customers get a deluxe sample of UD’s Anti-Aging Eyeshadow Primer Potion too.
Will you be joining in the fun, and putting a stop to running around bare (faced)?
This palette was sent to me for my consideration. The opinions expressed above are entirely my own, and in no way biased.
I think these are really great shades for travelling, mattes and shimmers combined. I love the look you created, especially like how the highlight turned out, gorgeous!
Thanks Sara. Yes i think it’s a handy kit for travels, perhaps not so much for the daily purse. 😉
This one looks good for travels, for sure. Sometimes though, I wish they’d just change the name >_<
lol… i think i’ve grown immune to the naked name-calling. It makes for a good story though! 😉
You’ve created a really nice and glowy look! I’m a little fatiqued with all the Naked items, and while this all rounder box might be great for travelling, I agree it’s too bulky for my tastes. I’d rather see mini versions of the Naked palettes in proper travel/clutch friendly sizes at appropriately mini prices 😉
Thanks Noodles! Yes, so many of them isn’t it?? But this one is bolder than the usual Nakeds… so it’s interesting to me!
Hey Linda, I like the look you put together, but I’ll pass. This would have been way more tempting for me if they had included an MLBB lipstick from their Revolution line. Plus when I am running late, I actually reach for my eyeshadow sticks/cream products, because I don’t have to go through the trouble of finding the right brush!
Thanks Sunny! Oh I like those Revolution lipsticks too! WHen i’m running late, i’m REALLY late… there isn’t even time to slap on any sticks on my eyes! I think this one is a good one to stash in the office for emergencies!
I’ve seen a couple of reviews pop up in the last few days, but no one included swatches, so I’m really happy to see them here. I have the first Naked palette and I feel like this would be a perfect addition to my collection.
Thanks for stopping by Nadja! Hope the swatches are helpful!
This palette looks absolutely beautiful!
Yes, i think so too!
