Taking a different direction from the colorful spreads from the last few collections, Shu Uemura steps out in chic camo prints courtesy of Maison Kitsuné. Previous Maison Kitsuné x Shu Uemura collaborations were cute and girly, in contrast this latest collection for Summer 2019 feels much more grown up and edgy.
Central to the Maison Kitsuné x Shu Uemura Summer 2019 collection is a 12-shade Camo Eyeshadow Palette. Bearing all sorts of neutral hues ranging from beiges to browns and greens, there is a good selection of matte, satin and glitter shades for a variety of looks. I swatched them according to their respective placement on the palette:
There are 3 brand new original shades in this palette:
The other shades in the Camo Eyeshadow Palette are:
The lips are completely matte and vivid. There are 2 options, the first is the Rouge Unlimited Supreme Matte. The formula is creamy and comfortable on the lips, for the full review please head over here. For this collection, 16 shades are dressed in the limited edition Maison Kitsuné print. I have 4 of them, and here are the swatches:
Another alternative is the Shu Uemura Matte Supreme liquid lip lacquer. These are long-lasting and smudge-resistant, the color vivid and deeply saturated. The doe-footed sponge applicator is familiar and does a great job at applying around the contours of the lips. There are 8 shades in this collection, 2 of which are similar to the Rouge Unlimited Supreme Matte.
Finally, to take it all off, there is the Shu Uemura Ultime8∞ Sublime Beauty Cleansing Oil. This cleansing oil is one of my favorites and I have reviewed it here before. This jumbo sized 450ml bottle looks especially cool dressed in the Maison Kitsuné print.
To give you a sense for the items discussed today, here are a couple of makeup looks.
A simple eye look featuring IR470 and ME472 from the Camo Eyeshadow Palette, and Rouge Unlimited Supreme Matte WN 268 on my lips.
For this look, I used ME252, Amber Brown, Baked Orange and P875 from the Camo Eyeshadow Palette. For the cheeks, I dabbed a little of the Matte Supreme liquid formula in RD163 onto my cheeks and blended it out for a flush. And finished with the same shade from the Rouge Unlimited Supreme Matte formula on the lips.
Overall, I found the pigmentation of the Camo Eyeshadow Palette to be less intense and sheerer than is usual for Shu Uemura, and some of the shades swatch out differently than they appear on the palette. The lip colours are beautiful though, and the Maison Kitsuné print is especially endearing. The Maison Kitsuné x Shu Uemura collection is out in stores now, do check it out and decide for yourself!
