Colored mascaras and liners in every hue are so on trend this season, it seems like every brand has them. There is no easier way to glam up a look in a flash, especially when the sun is out and you are in a dash to go out to play! Personally, I couldn’t quite figure out how to rock pink mascaras, they just seem too punk for my straight-laced day job. And I have difficulty getting blue mascaras to show up on my black lashes. But good things come to those who wait, and I was gratified when I finally laid hands on Lunasol’s 15th Anniversary Limited Edition W Lighting Mascara!
The W Lighting Mascara is a dual-ended mascara. On one end is an intense purple that shows up well on my black lashes without being too obtrusive. The other end is a navy flecked with gold glitter!! It looks quite glittery in the tube, but when applied, the gold glitters are really fine and they fan out sparsely, so the effect is really quite subtle.
Designed to be used together, one coat of the purple provides a nice base of color, and another coat of navy with gold glitter further darkens the color and brings out the shine. The shades can be used individually as well, and I was very happy to know the purple shows up well enough on its own. The wand is a comfortable size for my short Asian lashes and tiny eyes, and coats each lash nicely. The purple end is curved slightly, making it even easier and more comfortable to apply. The formula is slightly thickening and lengthening, and there is some slight lifting to it as well. However, it does tend to clump with multiple coats, so I like to brush things out with a clean brush afterwards. I loved that it is waterproof and smudgeproof, perfect for my long days in this humid climate!
Lunasol W Lighting Mascara is limited edition, and was soldout in Japan within hours of launch. It is available at Lunasol counters worldwide since June, and retails for SGD46 (approximately USD37).
