The best part about year-end holiday collections is the arrival of Christmas coffrets!! Somehow they seem like more of a Japanese tradition, but if you can get hold of them, they make really great gifts. More importantly, these coffrets often feature limited edition items that are not normally offered by the brands. With that in mind, I’d like to show you the Lunasol Winter 2017 Candle Night Collection!
Inspired by candlight flickering in the crisp wintery air, Lunasol’s Winter 2017 collection features warm colors and elegant shimmers. There are several limited edition point makeup to pick and choose from, and a really beautiful exclusive Lunasol Party Coffret 2017. This year’s coffret consists of 4 makeup items, housed in a lovely navy velveteen pouch. There is a full-sized eyeshadow quad that is a perfect representation of the Lunasol aesthetic; a unique one-off cream cheek and lip color; mini mascara; and deluxe-sized loose powder.
Lunasol Party Eyes 2017 in EX01 Nuance Shiny Brown is a brown-themed quad that is reminiscent of the infamous Beige Beige. Personally, I am glad that Nuance Shiny Brown leans cooler in tone, and the shades are less glittery. The palette follows a peach-brown color theme with a user-friendly range of finishes that is suitable for either day or night wear.
There is a lovely light flare design on the top right shade in the palette, but it is just an overspray that goes away with the first tap of the brush and does not affect the underlying shade. Each of the shades are nicely pigmented that shows up well with the lightest sweep of my brush, and is easy to blend out for a natural look. Japanese makeup are often accused of being too sheer, but Lunasol Party Eyes Nuace Shiny Brown builds up nicely to a brown smoky look for night.
The best things often come in the smallest packages, and I’m most excited by the Lunasol Creamy Cheeks & Lips in EX03 Red Rose. It is rare to find makeup that work well for both cheeks and lips, and Lunasol has managed to achieve it with this beauty. It has just the right amount of slip to be comfortable on the lips without budging from the cheeks. The color is also the perfect rosy salmon that does not look overly loud on the cheeks, nor too washed out on the lips. I love that the color stays on my cheeks all day without fading or oxidizing.
Completing the coffret is a dark brown Lunasol Coloring Mascara EX01 Nuance Brown that is dark enough to be worn to the office, and long-lasting enough to not flake or smudge. To seal it all in is the deluxe-sized Lunasol Skin Contrast Face Powder N in EX03 Fondant Pink. This is a special limited edition shade which is just imperceptibly pink-tinted for a brightening effect. The powder mattifies without drying out my skin, and helps extend the wear time of my makeup.
Here is the full makeup look featuring all the pieces of the Lunasol Party Coffret 2017:
For this look, I am wearing Party Eyes 2017 in EX01 Nuance Shiny Brown and Coloring Mascara EX01 Nuance Brown on my eyes, Creamy Cheeks & Lips in EX03 Red Rose on my cheeks and lips, and Skin Contrast Face Powder N in EX03 Fondant Pink on my t-zone.
For the eyes, I started by smudging Lunasol Deep & Shine Liner in EX01 Deep Brown along my lash line as a darkening base before layering on the rest of the eyeshadows.
In case you are unable to get your hands on the coffret or if it all seems like too much (impossible!), there are also several standalone pieces to consider.
Lunasol Warm Candle Eyes is available in 3 color variations, each featuring 2 powder eyeshadows, a dark satin shade and a light shimmer. EX01 as shown above is a play on coral and champagne. However, I personally feel that it needs a darker shade to create more depth and definition, and this is provided by the Deep & Shine Liner. These are dual-ended pencil liners that feature a dark matte shade on 1 end, and a pale shimmer on the other. There are 3 shades to choose from, and I have swatched EX01 Deep Brown & Beige Shine and EX02 Deep Red & Pink Shine below.
In addition all the lovely items for the eyes, do not forget to check out the Lunasol Oil Lip Balms as well. These are really hydrating on the lips and impart a sheer natural tint.
Lunasol Candle Night Collection for Christmas 2017 is out in counters now, and everything is limited edition. Check them out before they’re gone!

Such beautiful pictures!
Thank you Charli!
If Lunasol was still here, I’d have bought all of these. Their makeup products are top notch! But they’re now only available in KL, I think… and I also remember their LE products always get sold out as soon as they were launched. So sad.
How are you liking them, Lily? 😉
