Laura Mercier Folklore Summer 2013

June 1, 2013

I was passing through Bugis+ yesterday, and couldn’t resist making a quick detour into Sephora.  And found Laura Mercier’s Summer 2013 Folklore collection out on display!  I have been seeing the press images for the brand’s summer collections (there are a few… Summer Nudes and Dark Spell) over the past few weeks, and was the most drawn by the Folklore collection.

Laura Mercier Folklore

If ever there was a “summer” look, this would be it!  Bronzed skin, fiery eyes, sun-kissed lips.  And the collection does not disappoint.

Folklore consists of 3 illuminating eye color in iridescent shades – Fire Glow (bronze), Sun Glow (gold), and Earth Glow (pyrite with gold shimmers).  These are true to the Laura Mercier signature formula of creamy, heavily pigmented, shades.  They’re also in generous sizes that are guaranteed to last a LONG time.

Personally, I love each of these shades, and was very close to pulling out my credit card for them.  But, on second thoughts, they are very dupable shades, nothing new really.  When I got home, I found I already have more than 1 of each of these in my stash.

Laura Mercier’s Folklore collection is supposed to consist of 3 lip crayons, but I only found 2 on display.

Lip crayons are commonplace now, so much so I almost passed these by.  However, after the 1st swatch, I was in love!  Folklore is a bright fuchsia that is so on-trend for summer.  Mayan Sun is a coral nude that is great for lounging by the pool.  What sets these apart is the incredibly creamy texture and heavily pigmented formula!  It’s almost like butter on the lips without compromising on color!

Folklore is supposed to come with some blue mascara and eyeliners, but I did not see those on display.  Will certainly swatch those the moment I lay my eyes on them!

What do you think of Folklore so far?

I love them! The colours are so pigmented and nice but ahh, a tad pricey for a student like me haha! Why don’t the eyeshadows come in palette? Aih.
