Lancôme Holiday 2015 La Palette 29, Faubourg Saint Honore

There’s something very romantic about the notion of Christmas in Paris… the ball gowns, red satin slippers, kissing under the glow of the Eiffel at the chime of the Notre Dame, etc. And this year, Lancome brings us on a magical journey beyond the golden arches of the house’s rue du Faubourg Saint Honore famed address, into a secret Parisian garden on a mysterious winter night. Dressing for the occasion is never easier, with the chic La Palette 29, Faubourg Saint Honore!

At the heart of Lancome’s Holiday 2015 My French Noel Collection is this stunning La Palette 29, Faubourg Saint Honore. A sleek palm-sized palette with an intricate design emblazoned in gold. Inside, it houses 6 eyeshadows to create the perfect smoky eye, a hydrating lip base and 2 matte lip colors. There is even a dual-ended brush for eyeshadow and lip, and a generous-sized mirror.

So often with mixed palettes containing cream products, people would complain about powders getting stuck on the cream, or the potential for cross contamination. So it is a nice touch to find a swing lid protecting the cream lip products! There is even an illustrated tutorial to help you get started on that perfect smoky eye, and since it is printed on a transparent sticker you can still see yourself in the mirror, or feel free to peel it off if you don’t need any help!

And here are the corresponding swatches:

The left side of La Palette comprises of 6 eyeshadows, and they are as follows:

• Pale beige with a matte finish, for an all-over base
• Light shimmery gold with a slightly sheer base, suitable for highlighting the inner corners of the eyes and for a pop on the middle of the lid or under the brow bone
• Medium satin bronze with a slight sheen
• Light pink-taupe with a satin finish
• Medium satin plum with a slight sheen
• Dark matte purple with pink shimmers

And on the right of the palette, there are 3 lip products. From right to left,

• Medium-dark bordeaux with a matte finish
• Medium cherry red with a matte finish
• Clear hydrating lip base that also doubles up as a top coat to add a touch of sheen to the lips. Since this is invisible, I did not include it in the swatches above.

All of the eyeshadows and lip colors are well pigmented, and the texture is soft and smooth. Here is the full makeup look featuring Lancome La Palette 29, Faubourg Saint Honore:

Soft and sensual for Christmas brunch! On the lips, I’m wearing a blend of both the lip colours on the palette, with the clear hydrating base as a top coat. And a closer look at the eye makeup:

For this eye look, I simply followed the “Night” look tutorial printed on the palette. First I applied the beige base colour all over my eye area, followed by the light pink-taupe on my lid up until the crease. Next, I applied the medium plum to the outer half of my lids, and darkened the outer corner with the dark purple. Next, I lined the outer half of my lash line with the dark purple, finishing up on the lower lash line as well. Finally, I added just a dash of the gold to the inner corner for a pop!

Below, I’ve included another look at La Palette on the eyes. I switched out for the newly launched L’Absolu Rouge Definition lipstick in Le Carmin for my lips, and now I’m ready to dance the night away!
