La Prairie Cellular Swiss UV Protection Veil SPF50 / PA++++

May 10, 2016

Sunscreens are di rigor these days, we all know about the potential aging effects of UV on the skin.  But why just use boring plain vanilla sun screens when you can get so much more out of 1 product?  La Prairie takes us a few steps ahead with its latest Cellular Swiss UV Protection Veil, which combines antiaging treatment, hydrating benefits, and makeup primer capabilities in one!

La Prairie Cellular Swiss UV Protection Veil SPF50

La Prairie Cellular Swiss UV Protection Veil comes with SPF50 / PA++++ broad spectrum protection, which is the highest possible and effectively shields the skin from both UVA and UVB rays.  It is formulated with Zinc Oxide as a physical blocker and Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate as a chemical blocker  Benzophenone-3 and Ethylhexyl Methoxycrylene act as photostabilizers to prevent degradation of the chemical blockers, ensuring the longevity of this sunscreen (although as a general rule, we are supposed to re-apply every 2 hours!).  I should also point out the use of Titanium Dioxide (nano) as a physical blocker as well, so please do not swallow, inhale or rub this into your eyes (but why would you??)!

What sets La Prairie Cellular Swiss UV Protection Veil apart from other sun screens, is its power-packed ingredient list.  At the heart of all La Prairie’s products is the brand’s exclusive Cellular Complex which helps to revitalize skin cells to help fight signs of aging.  Antioxidants such as Leontopodium Alpinum Extract, Vitamin E and Hibiscus Flower Extract protects against free radical damage from the environment.  Anti-inflammatory ingredients like Rose Fruit Extract, Licorice Root Extract and Cucumber Seed Extract soothe and calm skin.

In addition, Mulberry Bark Extract prevents excess melanin production and helps reduce new melanin formation.  I love that La Prairie has also included Lecithin which is a great cell communicating agent and helps to keep skin moisturized; and Lactobacillus Ferment to promote healthy skin and is particularly useful for eczema.  Lysophosphatidic Acid visibly reduces pores thanks to a stimulating action on cells differentiation and hydration conditions.

La Prairie Cellular Swiss UV Protection Veil comes in a beautifully understated white squeeze tube with silver trims and cap.  If it seems larger than other sunscreens, it is because it comes with 50ml in the tube versus the usual 30ml market norm.  Regardless, it fits well inside a handbag if you plan on toting it around town.

I generally prefer liquid sunscreens, but La Prairie’s Cellular Swiss UV Protection Veil feels so lightweight on my skin that I forget it is a cream.  Even in this meltingly-hot weather that we have been getting, it never feels too much when layered with all my other skincare and makeup.  Instead, it has a lightly hydrating feel, and helps to keep my skin moisturized throughout the day (although I would not call this a replacement for your regular moisturizer).  Also, it visibly smoothens the look of my pores and brightens my complexion to prep it for makeup.  Some sunscreens leave a white cast that turns ashen on my skin tone, but La Prairie Cellular Swiss UV Protection Veil has a very slight pink tint to it that brightens.  My makeup goes on smoother and looks better afterwards!

La Prairie Cellular Swiss UV Protection Veil SPF50 / PA++++ retails at SGD300 for 50ml, and is available at all La Prairie counters in Singapore now.

This stuff sounds really good. I like to wear an SPF 50 and I currently use the La Roche Posay Anthelios Comfort Cream, but I’d be keen to try out this one to see which I prefer, as this does sound pretty impressive. 😀
