La Mer The Moisturizing Matte Lotion

I love every single La Mer moisturizer there has ever been released, and have managed to find a use for every one of them.  With only one face, it is almost unfathomable to find an occasion for yet another moisturizer, and yet… La Mer has managed to surprise me yet again with its new Moisturizing Matte Lotion!

La Mer The Moisturizing Matte Lotion is specially designed for those of us with oily skin concerns, or who have to deal with shiny t-zones due to heat and humidity.  If you are already familiar with La Mer’s The Moisturizing Soft Lotion [reviewed here], you will know that it was recently reformulated to bear a lighter texture whilst packing greater hydrating and anti-aging properties thanks to new micro-technology.  The latest Moisturizing Matte Lotion takes things one step further with intelligent moisture.

Instead of a milky fluid, The Moisturizing Matte Lotion uses a gel-like fluid texture for a sense of freshness.  Suspended within it is the signature La Mer Miracle Broth and Lime Tea extract, working to counter inflammation as well as defend skin from external aggressors.  These days, such properties seem fairly commonplace, and whilst I am sure there are other products out there that perform well at lower price points, La Mer’s range of moisturizers (including this Matte Lotion of course) go beyond the superficial.  The Miracle Broth has been touted to be “liquid energy” for the skin as it boosts cellular activity and skin repair.  Over time, I always notice my skin looking healthier and calmer over periods of using La Mer moisturizers, than otherwise.

A sea-sourced micro-fine powder encapsulates every moisture sphere to create a mattifying mesh network.  Ocean clay, blue-green algae powder and sea minerals work together to absorb excess shine and refine pores, creating a smoother mattified skin canvas.  I found that whenever I apply makeup on top of La Mer The Moisturizing Matte Lotion, my makeup sits better, lasts longer and my complexion gets less shiny at the end of the day.

In case you have difficulty choosing, I would recommend the following:

• The Moisturizing Matte Lotion – for oily / combination skin, especially for the day time
• The Moisturizing Soft Lotion and Gel Cream – for normal to dehydrated skin, suitable for day or night
• The Moisturizing Soft Cream – suitable for most skin types at night.  Possible for daytime use if you have dry skin.
• Creme de La Mer – for dry skin, suitable for day or night.  I always keep a jar on hand for emergency use, and I even add a pat of it on my neck these days as I am seeing more lines.
