Gentle & Kind – Klorane for my Stressed out Hair!

November 22, 2016

My hair has been constantly dyed since I was 18, and I regularly put it through chemical processes like rebonding and perming, so I am very diligent about my haircare, more so than bodycare.  Whilst my bathroom is permanently stocked with all manners of treatment conditioners and masks, and of course I go for regular salon treatments; there is nothing better than protecting and preventing damage to the hair to begin with.  Klorane is a brand that I’ve come to rely on for gentle and kind products, not only for myself but for my entire family.

Klorane Haircare

Klorane was founded 50 years ago on a deep passion for plants and nature.  All of the products are formulated with plant extracts, sourced from specially selected farms in designated countries following rigorous standards of sustainable farming and full traceability.  The brand is very conscious about safety and efficiency of its products, and fiercely protective of its plant-heritage.  Working both in its own Pierre Fabre Research and Development Center as well as with renowned independent research centers such as The French National Center for Scientific Research; Klorane is constantly improving on its product offerings.  Over the years, Klorane has developed an extensive range of haircare products addressing every possible need.  Here are my top 3 picks:

  1. Klorane Gentle Shampoo With Oat Milk is extra gentle, and worked equally well on my thick unruly hair and my 4 year-old’s soft baby hair.  It is a light milky fluid that lathers up just nice, not overly much, but sufficient to feel clean.  Because the texture is so runny, there is a tendency to use more, but really a dollar-coin dollop is enough for my long hair.  I love that it is easy to rinse off, leaves my hair clean without stripping it of its natural moisture, and my hair feels softer and easier to comb through afterwards!  Personally, I wouldn’t recommend it for those with oily hair, but for dry or sensitized hair this is perfect.  Living in a humid city like Singapore, I need to wash my hair every night to get rid of the grime and sweat, so it is great to have a gentle option that protects my hair’s natural balance.
  2. Klorane Dry Shampoo with Oat Milk is the perfect alternative for days when I reach home dog-tired the night before and can not find the energy to wash and blow dry before hitting the pillows.  Just a few spritzes on the roots of the hair (I normally concentrate on the top of my head where it feels oilier and weighs my hair down), massage gently with my fingers, then comb out after a couple of minutes.  The micronized powders contain oat milk, and has a slight beige tint, but it is invisible on my dark hair and I find the scent to be really soothing!
  3. Klorane Leave-in Spray with Flax Fiber is an invigorating spray that volumnizes and lifts my limp hair without leaving behind that crunchy uncomfortable texture.  It contains flax which has the ability to strengthen the hair root and helps hair grow naturally thicker.  I don’t usually have a problem with my hair being too flat (the opposite is more common – unruly, flyaway, crazy hair), but there are days when my hair looks like it has slept in more than I did.  On those occasions, a few gentle spritzes of this Leave-in Spray easily brings my hair back to life.  My hubby has taken to adding this to his morning routine, and his normally flat hair looks fuller at the crown!

There are lots more to explore and choose from Klorane’s comprehensive range of products.  Whilst I take a practical approach towards natural living, and take a critical cynical approach towards organic beauty products; I will always happily choose products that are well formulated with plant-derived ingredients wherever possible.  I am particularly happy to know that the Gentle Shampoo with Oat Milk does not contain parabens and preservatives, and there are no unnecessary silicones to weigh my hair down and clog my follicles.  The Dry Shampoo is a cult-favourite, and you have to try it to believe it.  In our humid climate, this is a godsend for refreshing the hair by getting rid of those excess oil on the scalp, especially after returning from lunch on a hot day!  Klorane’s Leave-in Spray with Flax Fiber is another great option for revitalizing limp, lifeless hair in a jiffy!

The lovely folks at Klorane Singapore have generously provided an additional set of these 3 products for 1 of my followers based in Singapore.  The giveaway is happening on my Instagram, so pop over there and join in the fun!

  1. I love Klorane and highly recommend the Mango Butter conditioner too! It is so affordable and very popular here in France of course, with every Pharmacy stocking the full line. Love it. Kelly xx

  2. I wasn’t impressed by their normal dry shampoo (white cast oh my) but I might have to give the tinted version a chance then.
