Jurlique is a brand that I’ve loved for many years, their Calendula Cream is a staple in my home both for my eczema-prone skin and my little boy. I adore their “From Seed to Skin” philosophy, with a plant-based formulation using ingredients grown and harvested from their own certified-biodynamic farm. Through their exclusive Bio-Intrinisic extraction method, Jurlique is able to capture the full potency of their ingredients, to create the most effective natural skin care. Jurlique does not use any parabens, PEGs, formaldehyde, artificial fragrances or artificial colours in their products. This is a brand that does not rely heavily on advertising, nor are there many counters to pervade our mass consciousness. But I have been enjoying a couple of their bestsellers from the Herbal Recovery range, and would like to share them with you today!
Jurlique’s Herbal Recovery line was first launched in 1993, and focuses on minimising dullness in skin and protecting against signs of aging. The range extends from cleansers to serums and facial oils for face, eyes and neck. Today I will be introducing the Antioxidant Face Oil and Advanced Eye Serum.
Jurlique Herbal Recovery Antioxidant Face Oil is a luxurious face oil designed to smooth fine lines, deeply moisturise and restore luminosity. It is filled with lots of emollients including Avocado, Rose Hip, Grape Seed and Soybean Oils. Safflower Seed Oil contains a high concentration of omega-6 and other skin-loving vitamins. These help boost skin’s moisture level, and promote elasticity of the skin, plumping up lines.
This face oil is combined with Vitamin E and Vitamin A Palmitate, both powerful antioxidants, to combat environmental stresses and prevent premature aging. They also help skin-healing, and are useful for scar and wound healing. Chamomile, Spilanthes and Horsetail help to rebalance the skin moisture level, nurture and nourish the skin, and restore the skin’s radiance.
Jurlique Herbal Recovery Antioxidant Face Oil comes in a dark bottle to protect the contents and a dropper dispenser that allows me to measure out as many (or little) drops as I need. Despite being filled with so many beneficial oils, the texture is relatively lightweight. I would not describe it as being a dry oil, and it is not as thin as La Mer The Renewal Oil nor Kiehl’s Daily Reviving Concentrate. Instead, this is a comforting oil when my skin feels parched or in its most sensitised state. It absorbs easily and completely into the skin, and I only need 2-3 drops for my entire face and neck. I love how supple my skin feels afterwards, and the scent is wonderfully relaxing!
Jurlique Herbal Recovery Advanced Eye Serum is a lightweight eye treatment that is power-packed with antioxidants and soothing ingredients. It aims to reduce the signs of fatigue, minimize the appearance of fine lines and dehydration.
Black Currant Seed Oil is a potent antioxidant and has anti-inflammatory benefits. It also helps soothe and treat dermatitis, and reduces allergic reactions. Meadowfoam Seed Oil bolsters skin’s natural barrier function, and prevents moisture loss. Evening Primrose Oil is filled with essential fatty acids that help to treat dermatitis, and prevent first-signs of aging such as loss of firmness and rough textures. Other ingredients my sensitive skin loves is Calendula, Echinacea, Rosemary and Ginseng. I love that Niacinamide ranks high up on the ingredient list as it is excellent in fighting signs of aging, helping erase dark circles, improve skin elasticity and alleviate wrinkles.
Jurlique Herbal Recovery Advanced Eye Serum is a lightweight fluid, and 1 pump dispenses the perfect amount for both eyes. I spread the serum between my ring fingers and gently massage it around my eye area. It absorbs quickly, and does not leave any lingering sticky or oily sensation. On its own, I find it insufficient for keeping my dry skin properly hydrated through the day, and I prefer layering it with another hydrating eye gel for the day and something slightly richer for night. I do generally layer my eye products anyway, because I’m desperately trying to stall the advance of more lines, and I somehow always find my lids looking rather crepe-y towards the end of the day. And so, for my purpose, a lightweight product like this is perfect for layering!
Overall, both Jurlique Herbal Recovery Antioxidant Face Oil and Advanced Eye Serum are lovely, and I recommend checking them out if you are in search for a good and affordable face oil or overall anti-aging eye product. The Face Oil retails for SGD99 for 50ml, and the Eye Serum SGD85 for 15ml.
