Jo Malone Bronze Wood & Leather Cologne Intense

I am constantly surprised by Jo Malone’s ability to keep on reinventing itself and keep us fans on our toes.  It is not an easy job to regularly push out new and exciting fragrances, and Jo Malone has really impressed me with its latest Bronze Wood & Leather.  The notes hint at something quite innovative, and the combination of wood and leather is something I’ve never seen before, so I was deeply intrigued.

Jo Malone’s Cologne Intense range is marked by rich and deeply sensual fragrances, and the latest addition pushes the collection further to its boundary.  Bronze Wood & Leather is built around the new wood leather accord which is both sexy and taunting at the same time.  It starts out with the first wisps of woodsmoke, fragrant and clean, like a good fireplace on a cold crisp winter evening.  Then the leather emerges, soft and snug like your favourite leather biker jacket.  The two intertwines harmoniously, perfectly balanced for a unique and strong scent.  There is a touch of juniper and grapefruit that keeps the brew fresh and lively.  Vetiver gives the leather a bit of polish and grain, making this a much more masculine fragrance than most other Jo Malone brews.

The beauty of Bronze Wood & Leather is that it manages to retain that translucency and cologne-lightness that is a signature of Jo Malone.  So magical is it that when I spritzed it on, Bronze Wood & Leather not only elicited praises from my husband but also my 6yo son.  Jo Malone recommends layering it with Wood Sage & Sea Salt or Pomegranate Noir, and I’ve tried both combinations, my favourite though is pairing it with English Oak & Redcurrant [reviewed here].
