My lil bub has been racked with high fever, runny nose and the works lately, so pardon me if the reviews are trickling out slower than usual, and somewhat kooky. But, mama needs some pretty things to ponder over during the endless nights, and today my thoughts turn to Guerlain’s latest brow offering.
Brow smaush, what’s the big deal with yet another hairy product? Well, all the furrow is because Guerlain has not had a brow product in recent living memory!!! And understated as it is, the brow fever doesn’t seem to be thinning anytime soon, so we must brows on! (This is what sleep deprivation does to you!)
Guerlain Universal Eyebrow Kit consists of 3 varying shades of brown, and 1 pink beige highlighter. The medium and darkest brown shades are somewhat cooler-toned, with the darkest bearing some red tinges. It did seem somewhat perplexing to me, until I blended in the lightest brown which is warmer, and the resultant color just worked.
The palette is designed to be an all-in-one brow solution, so you can (nay, supposed to) mix the colors to suit your brow hair / skin color. So handy for those of us who like to change up our hair color frequently too. I found myself reaching for the 2 darkest shades the most, and used just a dash of the lightest brown to fill in the front of my brows closest to my nose bridge. The shades are somewhat less pigmented than other powder brow products I have used in the past (e.g. MAC, Bobbi Brown, Clinique), but that does lend itself better for blending.
Guerlain’s eyebrow kit also comes with a dual ended tool that features a thin, angled brush on one end, and a spoolie to comb brow hairs on the other. The brush feels somewhat scratchy to me, and a little too thin for my personal preference. However, it is useful for precise work and I know there are ladies with thinner brows who favor such brushes.
I think the single most important feature with a powder brow product is the color has to last all day, nobody wants a patchy, faded brow! And just like with its amazing eyeshadows, Guerlain’s Universal Eyebrow Kit stayed on well with no fading all day long!
On a somewhat divergent whimsy, that pinky-beige shade looks really delicious. I hardly ever (say never) highlight my brow bone, but I fancy this may actually work as a neutral eyeshadow palette? Oh yes, why not!
