Hello, welcome back! I’ve been busy migrating Silverkis’ World over to my own servers over the past few days, and have made some minor tweaks to the site. Thanks to your kind support, this blog has been growing and is getting to the limits of what the original WordPress.com servers allowed. I also wanted more flexibility to design the site and access more accurate analytics, both I could not do whilst on WordPress.com. Of course, none of these mean anything to you, my dear reader, unless it means a better interface and ever improving content. The transition should be seamless, existing WordPress subscribers will continue to receive my feed in your WordPress Reader, but to continue receiving email notifications, please take a moment to sign up to be on my mailing list.
And now, for the inaugural post as a fully self-hosted site, I’m happy to introduce the new Guerlain Super Aqua-Serum BB Hydra+!
This summer, Guerlain has expanded its Super Aqua-Serum skincare range (review for the existing products can be found here) with 2 new items – a moisturizer in 3 different textures to meet different skin types and preferences (review coming up shortly!), and a multi-tasking BB cream.
Guerlain Super Aqua-Serum BB Hydra+ is infused with the Super Aqua-Serum which contains the Aquacomplex cell purification technology that promises to purify cellular waters. Using an exclusive combination of plant and biotechnological ingredients, the Super Aqua-Serum reactivates the micro-fragment elimination process deep within the skin to purify cellular water. Consequently, the skin is healthier, and original mechanisms such as the production of collagen, elastin and fibulin-5 are returned to their optimal performance. With all these technological advancements, the Super Aqua-Serum provides intense hydration up to 12 hours.
The formula also includes a sun protection factor of SPF25 PA++ which is sufficient for most activities (although if you are going to be running about outdoors most of the day, I would suggest applying an additional SPF50 sunscreen). It has a broad-spectrum shield which protects against all UV rays to protect the skin from sun damage.
Whereas last year’s Guerlain Lingerie de Peau Beauty Booster (reviewed here) provided a high level of coverage with a matte finish, the Guerlain Super Aqua-Serum BB Hydra+ is much lighter both in texture and coverage. Notwithstanding the lighter coverage, it has a light-reflecting capability to even out the complexion without hiding it. I loved the luminous look it leaves, without looking overly dewy.
It is a lovely light fluid that is a breeze to apply… it is so smooth I simply apply it with my fingers in a matter of seconds… no blending required! And here is a before and after comparison so you can see the effect of this BB cream.
Lighting difference aside, Guerlain Super Aqua-Serum BB Hydra+ did leave my complexion looking brighter and more luminous. Although light in terms of coverage, it did minimize the redness around my nose, under my eye, and on the cheeks. To complete the look, I would still reach for my concealer and finish off with some loose powder. Just in case you think that BB creams only work on minimal makeup days, I’ve worn it with full eye makeup , cheeks, lips…the works here and it looks flawless.
I’ve been wearing this over the past couple of weeks, and am happy to report that Guerlain Super Aqua-Serum BB Hydra+ wears well for over 6 hours without any touchups. Beyond that, a light dusting of powder refreshes it sufficiently for the rest of the day. It is perfectly comfortable to wear, and is ideal for this hot humid summer!
