It doesn’t quite feel like April yet, does it? I know it is still snowing in some parts of the world, so we can still appreciate the tender glow that Guerlain is presenting us with this year. In any case, I can never get enough of the beauty of Guerlain Meteorites (there is always a tin on my vanity), and regardless of the season, there is always room for more Meteorites Glow!
This Spring 2018, Guerlain has released a capsule collection of color makeup that feature the Meteorites technology, to bring an elegant grown-up glow to every complexion. At the forefront of this Meteorites Glow with Love Collection is the highly coveted Meteorites Heart Shape Glow Shaping – Strobing Palette.
It features a sweet pink cover with cute heart-shaped design printed, which brings to life the heart-shaped theme. But the true reference is the beguiling heart-shaped sculpting technique that is inspired by Korean makeup trends, but uniquely Guerlain. The compact houses a matte pink on the top left quadrant meant to be used under the cheekbones; a pale iridescent warm-toned pink to be used on the hairline and top of the cheekbones as a highlight; and a large pearly beige in the lower half to be used on the nose bridge and cupid’s bow.
I swatched the Heart Shape Palette on the inside of my arm where it is fairest, and I had a lot of difficulty picking up the “darker” pink shade as it is very tightly packed and unyielding. The swatch above is with multiple swipes using a finger and it is barely showing. Even with a dense brush, it simply won’t show up on my cheeks, so I reckon it would be an extremely difficult to contour on anyone darker than a NC15. The other 2 shades were much better pigmented though, without being too frosty nor shimmery.
What excited me was the release of these color-correcting pens! The Guerlain Meteorites CC Glow are great multi-taskers that target and correct skin tone imperfections, and pack skin-loving ingredients to restore radiance, plump and rejuvenate the skin. The sleek click pen format are easy to tote around and the brush head makes application a breeze.
Apricot helps to erase areas of shadow and minor dark spots and offset the colour blue to counter dark circles. It should be applied above and below the eyes, or to the lip contour to erase shadowy areas and create the impression of volume. Green helps to neutralise redness and should be applied where needed (usually cheeks and wings of the nose). And Pink refreshes dull complexions and can be applied to the forehead and along the top of the cheekbones, bridge of the nose, chin and cupid’s bow.
The other item that has taken social media by storm is the Guerlain KissKiss LoveLove Lipstick. Of course, what’s not to love when it comes to the creamy and lustrous KissKiss lipsticks? Even better when the lipsticks come in adorable heart-shapes! Surprisingly, th heart-shapes help define my cupid’s bow, and is wide enough to be able to cover the entire lip in 1 swipe… not at all gimmicky as I had initially thought! There are 5 shades, and the one I have here is 572 BKK Red which is a pinky salmon red with a lustrous finish.
Apart from the Meteorites Glow With Love Collection, Guerlain has also released new Spring 2018 additions to the La Petite Robe Noir Makeup Collection. And along with it is a brand new matte liquid lipstick – Guerlain La Petite Robe Noir Lip Colour’Ink!
The small nifty tube is everything you’d need for a long-lasting lip colour that goes on slightly sheer (perfect for my daily stained lip look!) and is buildable to full opacity! There are 15 gorgeous shades, including a blue for transforming all the other shades! This formula dries down fast, making it easy to create a 2-tone ombre look, and stays perfectly comfortable on the lips without drying them out. The shade I have is L140 #Conqueror (all the shades are named with #… I guess to attract the new millennials), which is a bright vermillion.
There are 2 other cool additions to the line, including the La Petite Robe Noir Brow Duo. This is a 2-in-1 brow mascara to define, set and fill-in the brows; and a creamy champagne brow highlighter that may also be used to brighten the inner corners of the eyes. There are 2 universal shades – a lighter and another darker. I love the idea of a 2-in-1 product, easy to travel and more convenient to use on hurried mornings. But I had a bit of difficulty getting the highlighter end to open up when I first received it and had to get my husband to exert some of his muscle power, but afterwards I never had a problem with it again.
And lastly, there is an innovative liquid eye liner with the tiniest roller-wheel in place of a traditional brush! I thought I had seen all the eyeliners out there, but this one really surprised me. And again, I was surprised by how easy it is to create the perfect straight-line wing by simply holding it firmly and extending the wheel ever so slightly beyond the lash line. The formula is intensely black, and it is 100% budge-proof all day even on my crazily oily and hooded lids!! It may take 1-2 tries to perfect a continuous line from the inner corner all the way out, but once you do, getting both wings to level is a breeze.
There are lots to love from Guerlain this season. The Meteorites Glow With Love Collection is limited edition so catch them while you still can. The La Petite Robe Noir products are permanent and I’m looking forward to checking out more of them!
