2018 has been a challenging year on multiple fronts, but it has also been liberating in a way as I learnt to hold less tightly onto immaterial things. Particularly, I no longer feel the compulsive need to review each and everything that comes my way, at the expense of my own personal life. Regardless, the year cannot end without me giving due homage to a handful of new releases from Guerlain Orchidee Imperiale that I’ve truly enjoyed.
Guerlain’s Orchidee Imperiale range of skincare is one of the most luxurious in the world, and is formulated around the house’s proprietary knowledge of the secret of the orchid. The luxuriously fragranced and indulgent price of the line is not for everyone, but I’ve been using Guerlain Orchidee Imperiale skincare since 2013 [reviews may be found here] and have seen astounding results each time.
The latest addition to the collection is the Guerlain Orchidee Imperiale The Imperial Oil. This lightweight golden liquid is a blend of 20 natural oils that help to balance lipids in the skin and boost collagen production for healthy, youthful looking skin. It features a new Cell Respiration Technology that helps skin regulate cellular respiration so that cells can function at their optimal levels again and regenerate. Full list of ingredients may be found here. In a year where I had travelled more extensively than ever in my life, this oil was well suited for all climates and kept my skin properly regulated. It absorbs well, leaving my skin feeling plump and nourished but does not cause me to break out. The next day, there is an unmistakeable glow that is sheer bliss.
Another recent addition to the collection is the Guerlain Orchidee Imperiale Essence-in-Lotion. Enriched with a new Orchidee Essential Water Complex, it consists of an aqueous extract of orchid combined with low molecular weight hyaluronic acid, that boosts skin’s own self-hydration mechanism. The crisp refreshing fluid is surprisingly hydrating without resorting to the type of heavy gelatinous texture that others employ. Instead it is easy to apply, and is ideal as the first step to a comprehensive routine. This is a great way to experience the anti-aging benefits of the Guerlain Orchidee Imperiale line, especially for first-timers who are averse to heavy products. Full list of ingredients may be found here.
I have tried several different generations of eye creams from this line before [see here and here] and always loved them, but it still does not stop me from being completely impressed by the new Guerlain Orchidee Imperiale Eye & Lip Contour Cream. From the first application, my eye area is soothed, lines are smoothed out, and overnight my undereye is brighter and lids are lifted. If ever there is an all-in-one eye cream that addresses all my concerns, this is it. My son recently developed intensely dry and crusty lids, and after trying everything else (doctor prescribed and otherwise), I dipped into this out of desperation and was surprised by how much his eyelids improved. Since I started using this, I simply couldn’t stop and have already hit pan! Full ingredient list here.
As I type this, it is 10 minutes before the start of the new year, so if you are reading this, I wish you a very blessed 2019. May the days ahead be ever brighter and bring you and your loved ones greater joy and success!
