Guerlain Orchidée Impériale Eye & Lip Cream: 3rd time’s the charm

February 26, 2014

I realize I’m falling into obsessive-compulsive broken-record jabbering about Guerlain’s Orchidée Impériale range.  For the record, I am not sponsored by Guerlain in any way, and I have yet to (oh pray it comes sooner than never) receive any of their Orchidée Impériale products for blog review purposes.  The only reason I’m going on so, is because this stuff really works for me.  Heart-breakingly, wallet-destroyingly, well.  Obviously it may not work for everyone (oh lucky gals!), but for those of you still on the prowl for some self indulgence, here is the newly reformulated Orchidée Impériale Eye & Lip Cream!

Guerlain Orchidee Imperiale Eye & Lip CreamGuerlain is constantly researching and improving their Orchidée Impériale range, using ingredients harvested from their exclusive Guerlain forest in Yunnan.  In its initial launch, Guerlain promised to help preserve youth by protecting existing cells and lengthening their lifespans.  Then in 2009, the 2nd-generation of Orchidée Impériale products claimed to restart cellular activity to turn back the clock.  Now, with the new Gold Orchid Technology, cellular activity is re-energized so that skin looks revived.

I have tried their Eye & Lip Cream in the past, and wasn’t at all impressed by it.  However, the recently improved formula has me looking on with renewed eyes.  It all happened when I developed some sort of swollen, red, itchy patches under my eyes.  Not quite sure how it happened, but it did.  I tried applying cold compresses and other soothing eye therapies, but by the 3rd day I was prepared to go to the doctor.  That night, I decided to dab some of the reformulated Orchidée Impériale Eye & Lip Cream on the area, and went to bed.  The next morning, the swelling had almost disappeared, and there was no more itching!!!

Granted the eye cream is not touted for its reparative function, and not all of us develop weird under-eye maladies all the time.  So how does the new eye cream really perform against usual needs?  It is a rich cream texture, that still manages to feel light enough and absorbs fairly quickly without any lingering greasiness.  It is certainly very nourishing, and something I would recommend for evenings only.  With such rich creams, I don’t expect to help with dark eye circles, instead it should smoothen out wrinkles and provide some lifting.  The latter property was visibly amiss in the previous iteration of the eye cream, but this latest generation does beautifully!

At SGD295, the Guerlain’s Orchidée Impériale Eye & Lip Cream is a splurge, but in the same ballpark range as La Mer and far cheaper than Cle de Peau and La Prairie.  Given the face cream is almost double that, and the serum 2.5x the price (totally worth the money though! Read here), the eye cream seems like a worthy investment.  After all, they do say that the eyes are the windows into the soul….

xoxo

  1. OMG I got a sample of the lip and eye cream it works so amazingly! but its so expensive! I know i’ll probably by it anyway, but it’ll be my most expensive skincare product to date! I hadn’t ever found an eye cream that I liked or even thought did anything for that matter but with this stuff I was able to see results almost instantly! It’s so nice!

I’m so glad this worked for you! Yes, it is terribly expensive, but taking care of your eyes is soooo important, there’s no point spending so much on the face and then scrimping on the eyes! So, if it works well for you, go for it gal!!!

  2. i tried a deluxe sample for a few weeks in the fall and wasn’t impressed. glad this version is working for you though!

Hey Joyce, aww sorry it didn’t work out for you (relieved for your wallet though!). I’m still on a relentless pursuit for that perfect all-in-one though! Let me know if you find it!

It’s great that the cream is working for you! (after all, if you already bought, and it’s so expensive, it better works!).
Too bad that eyecreams are so expensive! Some more than other, but still. It hurts paying so much for so little product 😛

Hey Sil, yeah it’s a rip-off!!! But then again, I use so little of it, a jar of eye cream lasts me a year! And there’s no point taking so much care on the rest of the face then scrimping on the eyes right? 😉
