Powder that caresses… Guerlain Lingerie de Peau Powder Foundation

October 23, 2014

Guerlain launched a new powder compact foundation sometime around summer this year, adding to their best-selling Lingerie de Peau collection.  I had a chance to swatch it before it even hit counters, and it has been haunting me since then.

Guerlain Lingerie de Peau Powder Foundation comes in the same sleek black case as the older cream compact foundation & concealer from the same range.  It is a shiny black plastic that feels extremely well made and carries a luxurious heft.  The corners are nicely rounded and there is a general sex appeal that is classic and timeless.

Guerlain Lingerie de Peau Powder Foundation

This powder foundation uses the same Lingerie de Peau Bio-Fusion Micro-Mesh technology that incorporates both natural silk and linen fibers with synthetic stretch fibers to create a lightweight coverage that clings to the natural curvature of the face.  The powder itself is perhaps the silkiest thing I have touched, and it is so fine it is almost imperceptible when swatched.  Similar to the liquid foundation, coverage of the Lingerie de Peau Powder Foundation is sheer although you can build it up somewhat without it looking cakey.

I never use powder foundation on its own, but more as a finishing step to set my liquid foundation and concealers, and then later on in the day for touch-ups.  Sure, I can use compact powders for that purpose or even carry around some loose powder, but sometimes I need just a bit more help evening out my skin tone, and I also find powder foundations to be more lasting.  And so, Guerlain Lingerie de Peau Powder Foundation is perfect for me.  I’ve been applying this with a soft powder brush, which helps to mattify and take away excess shine without any visible powderiness.  It is indeed delicate like lingerie!

Hi! I love reading your blog! Just wondering, how does this compare to the parure gold powder foundation?

Hi Jo, thanks for stopping by! Oh you asked a tough question… both are amazing in terms of texture of course. The Lingerie de Peau is sheerer IMO, and better for touch-ups or as a setting powder. The Parure Gold has more coverage between the 2.

This looks so tempting! Much more than their Holiday’s collection, imo, so I really hope I can swatch it!
Lately, I’ve been wanting to buy a powder foundation for those days when I feel like wearing something more natural (because I’m not going to leave the house with my bare face!), so this foundation looks very tempting. I’ve been wanting to try the new Chanel loose foundation too, but work’s been pretty hectic still, so I haven’t got the time to go to the Chanel counter yet.

You are right… i’m only eyeing the highlighter from the holiday collection. The Chanel loose powder foundation is interesting too! Not as good for touch-ups though.

Today I got to try the new Chanel loose foundation, and I’m loving it so far (still waiting to see how my oily skin likes it). But yeah, it’s definitely too big to carry on my purse! The only downside so far, it’s the price 🙁 I don’t know why Chanel has to be sooo overpriced here 🙁
But, even so, I got my name down on the waiting list for that gorgeous gorgeous highlighter! The lady at the counter told me they’d get the holiday collection in December, and that they’d only get around 5 of those compacts. So I immediately gave her my number, and asked her to call me as soon as she get it. I didn’t even asked her for the price! But I’m already convincing myself that it’d be the perfect Christmas gift for myself, lol
Now I only have to go check this Guerlain powder foundation, and then, decisions!
(Gladly, I didn’t like their holiday collection, so I won’t be tempted by it!)

Sil, that Chanel highlighter launches in Sg tmrw…. Prices are comparable to the US. Let me know if you’d like me to send u one!

          • Sil says:

Thanks, that’s so sweet of you! But I think I’ll wait until we get it here, because I still want to swatch it before buying (since it’s expensive, and highlighters are not something that I need, lol)
            Will you get one?

          • silverkis says:

            Already bought! ;P

Glad to hear you like this, too, Linda! I use a powder foundation when I want something fast, but they are indeed better-suited for touch-ups. I’m carrying this around in my makeup pouch as well!

I think i need more coverage these days for my aging skin…. and hydration! Powders over BB work well for weekends, but that combination oxidizes and don’t last well for a whole day at work.

Nooo!!! Stop tempting me! I had no idea this launched so long ago, thought it was a newbie. How would you rank this against the Shiseido conpact one you talked about a few weeks back, or even the Chanel loose powder foundation?

    • silverkis says:

Hahaha…. you need to at least check this out in person babe. The Shiseido compact is airier, even more suited for setting and perhaps a bit less coverage. I prefer the texture of the Guerlain one better. As for the Chanel loose powder foundation, I feel that one has more coverage.

  5. Lily says:

Too bad Guerlain foundations run pink. I need my yellow base and Guerlain’s shade range is quite weak. The texture sounds great though 🙂

    • silverkis says:

Oh Lily… yes the prob with Guerlain is limited shades! But they vary between the different products though… so there’s always hope!
