I had reviewed quite a bit of Guerlain’s Fall 2015 releases over the past month, and I know the main attractions for most people were the Rose aux Joues Tender Blushes [reviewed here] and the KissKiss Roselip Hydrating & Plumping Tinted Lip Balms [reviewed here]. The two eyeshadow palettes from the Bloom of Rose Collection – Beaugrenelle and Les Cendres – featured a softer colour palette and did not elicit as much excitement. But oftentimes what desensitised bloggers look for may differ from what the everyday woman need, and a softer colour palette is not a bad thing. I was able to swap my Beaugrenelle with another blogger friend for her Les Cendres, so I thought why not complete my coverage on Guerlain this season by showing you another makeup look?!
Guerlain Ecrin 4 Couleurs Les Cendres (19) is a cool-leaning eyeshadow palette that features everyday wearable neutral shades with enough range of colour intensities to suit day or evening wear. All of the shades are incredibly smooth and easy to apply, and last all day on my lids without creasing or fading even without the help of a primer.
The swatches (in clockwise direction starting from the left of the palette) are:
From left to right, the shades are:
And here is the resultant eye look:
With all the wonderful new lip stuff coming out lately, I actually prefer to keep my eye makeup relatively simple and Les Cendres does that beautifully. For this look, I simply swept the light-medium pink mauve all over my lid, followed by taupe on the outer half. Thereafter, I added a bit of the dark chocolate brown to the outer corner of my lid for some definition, and extended it along my lower lash line. Finished by dabbing the champagne on my inner corner, and also on the center of my lid. Very simple and easy, didn’t take me much time to blend at all.
Along with Les Cendres, I was also able to swap over Guerlain Rose aux Joues Tender Blush in Pink Me Up.
I had reviewed the formula of these new Rose aux Joues tender blushes before [here], and provided swatches of the entire range currently available. Pink Me Up is a happy pink blush that looks slightly coral in the pan, but on me, it is a rather cool-toned pink. It gives a delicate sheen to the cheeks, and the colour is quite pigmented, so I suggest a light touch.
And pairing Pink Me Up with Les Cendres in a full look,
I’m really fond of this look and can see this working out on a daily basis! What do you think?
I thought the blush would be more pigmented. Still, I think it’d be good when you’re in a hurry, because you can´t over do it 😉
Also, I just noticed that you died your hair! (and it’s so long!) I’ve been a redhead myself for the past couple of months, and I’ll be trying a more vibrant tone soon, since I liked it so much 🙂
Oh but these blushes are pigmented, some more so than others. I typically don’t wear too much blush as I have some natural redness there… but yeah, definitely much better than the old versions!
Hi Linda,
it looks very nice on you. I am not so happy with the palette, not because it is soft but because the shades look muddy on me. Sometime it happens and it can be my complexion to blame.
Oh my gosh, these products are so stunning!!! Wish I could own everything Guerlain 😉
Aww…. I totally understand how you feel!! I’m the same way when it comes to Guerlain…. I don’t need it, but I WANT IT! 😉
I picked up the quad and think it is a lovely option for more refined looks that are designed to enhance a woman’s features rather than show off her makeup. I think color is a fun thing, but really, not everything has to be a densely pigmented technicolor dream in order for it to succeed as a beauty product.
Hi Eileen, I can always rely on you to get me!! That is exactly how I feel about Les Cendres, and I think it shows up perfectly fine on my lids. Enough, and suitable for almost any occasion!
Oh my goodness, that eyeshadow palette! I’m in love!
Isn’t it pretty?!
Ah I love that blush on you, Linda. I understand that some eye shadows are made for softer looks, and in my opinion, definitely more wearable 🙂
You are definitely a blush fiend, Lily!! And I think Les Cendres is the right balance between wearable and not disappearing into nothing completely.
Both the blush and palette look stunning. I hear you on the softer eye shades. Not everything needs to be full on pigment plus. I recently bought the new Bobbi Brown Greige palette (still testing it) but this is along the same lines. I feel it’s a perfect every day every woman kind of a thing.

That’s interesting to hear… I never thought the Bobbi Brown palette would be similar since their finishes are quite different. But yes, BB always makes very neutral, everyday wearable colors!
