Are we in a time warp? The year is rapidly coming to an end, and yet here I am, rewinding the stories and taking us back to Fall. The good news is, these are all permanent so there is no time like the present to indulge in some retail therapy. For some ideas on stocking stuffers, consider the new Guerlain Kiss Kiss Matte Lipsticks and Intense Liquid Matte Lipsticks!
Guerlain relaunched the Kiss Kiss lipstick range back in 2014 [see here], and it is one of the easiest lipsticks to wear on a daily basis ever. It took them far longer than I would have expected, but Guerlain finally gets on the matte lip train with the new Guerlain Kiss Kiss Matte Lipstick!
The Guerlain Kiss Kiss Matte Lipstick comes in the same stacked cubic design as the other Kiss Kiss lipsticks, but in a spectacular matte gold packaging! The formula is as smooth and easy to apply as befits the name, and perhaps because the matte formula contains less slip it feels more pigmented. Guerlain has packed some pampering ingredients such as hyaluronic acid and Nigella sativa oil to nourish and keep the lips soft. Interestingly, there is some chilli derivative included to provide a gentle plumping effect for an even more luscious pout. Unlike other lip-plumping products in the market, I did not notice any stinging effect from this at all, if I had not taken a peek at the ingredients, would have been blissfully unaware.
There are 9 shades, and the 2 I have here are:
All of these are single swipes, and as you can see, the Guerlain Kiss Kiss Matte Lipstick has a soft velvety matte finish. They are incredibly long-lasting, leaving behind a light stain after a meal.
In case you’d like something even more intense, the new Guerlain Kiss Kiss Intense Liquid Matte Lipstick is the one for you! I have tried many…. many liquid lipsticks in the past year, and have developed a cautious skepticism to them as to my lips did not agree with many of those that were highly raved. It seems that Guerlain has read my mind and figured out exactly the best traits from the best liquid lipsticks out there, and created the ultimate one for me. These do not dry out my lips, of course that is a given at this point, but they are not watery and do not veer towards pigmented glosses (like Cle de Peau and Giorgio Armani). They have a light soufflé texture that floats over the lips, but are not as thick and gloopy as those mousse-types (like the Marc Jacobs and Burberry ones).
There are 7 shades available, and the ones I have are:
The applicator picks up quite a bit of product, so I like to tap it in the middle of my lips and smack them together to spread it out, and use a finger to feather out the edges. You can definitely get a precise edge with the applicator, which is nice; and there is no need to redip into the tube for more. It is completely opaque in a single swipe, and the intensity of color is excellent. I found it stains the sides of my coffee mugs and drinking glasses slightly, but amazingly stays on well enough even after a heavy meal! The best part is, my lips do not feel parched at the end of the day, and I can wear this consecutively without fear or ruining my lips.
It seems like everybody’s getting on the lip palette train lately, and for different reasons. For Fall 2017, Guerlain has 2 limited edition Kiss Kiss Contouring Lip Palettes to offer, and they each feature a lip primer (I love the original tube version) and 3 complementary creamy lipsticks.
You are free to wear any of the lipsticks on their own, mixed or blended together for a gradient effect. The shades have a soft satin finish, and are surprisingly not sheer as most lipsticks in palettes tend to be. Guerlain has also thrown in 2 lip applicators, a dual-ended brush which is quite helpful, and a sponge-tipped one.
Everything is out in stores, and there are lots of attractive Black Friday / Cyber Monday discounts going on now… so happy shopping!!

So interesting that Guerlain has joined the plumping game as well. Beautiful colours!
I thought the palette was an eyeshadow palette ;D I even commented so on your ig post! Lol! I like the idea of a small lip palette though and I may search one out.
Thanks for the great post Linda!
Hahaa… yes it’s a lip palette, let me know if you manage to get hold of it!
Spicy burgundy and Addictive Burgundy! Both look great on you. I haven’t tried any of their Kiss Kiss lipsticks and I remember liking their liquid lipsticks that were launched a few years back. I assume they’re discontinued and replaced with this?
oh yes, I was thinking of their older formula, and was going to mention it in my post, but somehow it slipped my mind. Yes that was discontinued a few years ago actually… right at the onset of all these matte liquid lipsticks hype. These are really fabulous, and i think they are even better than the old formula tbh. Give it a try!!
