This Fall, Guerlain has me feeling very nostalgic. My very first encounter with the brand was in the form of a red Kiss Kiss lipstick… my very first red lipstick. That was more than 5 years ago, and it marked a new chapter in my life, one that comprises of high-end design, dreamily smooth formula, vibrant colors, etc. There was no looking back after you’ve been kissed.
A celebration of French seduction
A homage to eternal femininity
The elegance of a timeless essential
The whisper of a passionate kiss
For Fall 2014, Guerlain has relaunched a whole new generation of Kiss Kiss Lipsticks. Dressed in new sexy black glossy casing with golden accents, these lipsticks are bound to be like the LBD for the lips! The new formula is enriched with mango butter to give a fine, even and rich cream texture. Hyaluronic acid spheres plumps up the lips to their original fullness and softness for a kissable pout. There are 25 shades ranging from easy nudes to bold vibrant to suit every style and occasion.
Guerlain Kiss Kiss Lipstick 325 Rouge Kiss is a gorgeous true red lipstick that I knew I had to have the moment I laid eyes on it. What better way to welcome Kiss Kiss back into my life than with the shade that started it all?! It is a neutral red, neither too warm nor with too much blue undertone to it, and is suitable for many skin tones. This is the lipstick worn by Natalia Vodianova in the campaign poster, which ups the desirability factor considerably. It has a shiny finish which makes it quite different from the usual matte or satin reds, and is the ideal red lipstick to wear in the day.
Upon initial application, I found Rouge Kiss to be sheerer than I had expected given the opacity and pigmentation of the campaign image. However, it is buildable to a certain extent, though the slippery nature of the lipstick makes it prone to sheering out. It also has a tendency to stray out of the corners of my lips. To build opacity and to prevent the lipstick from moving, I found it useful to apply a coat of lip primer first. My favorite is Guerlain’s LipLift which is perfectly comfortable to wear, and helps extend the longevity of my lip products.
Guerlain Kiss Kiss 344 Sexy Coral is a muted coral that has a creamy color and is not your usual bright poppy orange. It is probably the creamiest lipstick (in terms of texture) I have ever worn. EVER. And it has a glossy finish that is simply perfect, no additional gloss needed!
I can’t rave about this enough, I’m deeply, madly in love with Sexy Coral. It has a brightening effect on my overall look, and goes well with pretty much any palette that I’ve been wielding lately. You can see it in action here where I wore it topped with Shu Uemura Tint in Gelato CR02. Sexy Coral was less prone to straying and lasted longer on me (about 4-5 hours versus 3-4 hours for Rouge Kiss), or perhaps it is simply the nature of red shades to show up more distinctly and be less forgiving.
Guerlain has managed to outdo itself once again. The new reformulated Kiss Kiss Lipsticks are divinely creamy, and come in a thoughtful range of colors to suit every whim and fancy. I love the moisturizing feel on my lips, and the luscious finish. The sexy black casing doesn’t hurt either… these have found a permanent place in my handbag since I received them.
